And volume gets more results than reason, sadly enough.

I'm sure that if the best minds of the age are put on the subject,
it would be easier to figure out a good system of waste handling
(even if it be to launch big spaceships into the sun, whose obvious
weak point is at liftoff) than to figure out how to get people to
save energy, especially if the temp soars the way it has been doing.

Reminds me. Long ago I used to date one of the daughters of the
head honcho of Hanford. Gotta google him sometime to see what
became of him.

I envision taking on fresh ballast down near the bottom of the ship
while pumping old water up to a second level and porting it aft.
I dunno, might be expensive.

I'm not actually at that condition yet but will bear it in mind.
I was semi-joking when I said that it sounded good enough for me
to try.

Beer cupcakes
cat: odd, dessert
yield: 1 batch

Cake
1 c Guinness
4 1/2 oz unsalted butter
3/4 c unsweetened cocoa
2 c dark brown sugar
3/4 c sour cream
2 eggs
1 Tb vanilla extract
2 c flour
2 1/2 ts baking soda
Glaze
8 oz cream cheese
1 1/4 c confectioners’ sugar
1/3 c milk

Preheat oven to 350; butter a muffin tin.

Combine the Guinness and the butter, chopped into 1" chunks,
in a large saucepan, and heat to melt the butter. Remove from
heat, and whisk in the cocoa and sugar. In a bowl, whisk the
sour cream with the eggs and vanilla, then add to the beer
mixture. Sift together the flour and baking soda, and fold
into the batter. Pour into muffin molds and bake for 25 min or
until cake tester comes out clean. Let stand 10 min, remove
from muffin tin, and cool completely on a rack.

Using a mixer, whip cream cheese until smooth, sift in sugar,
and beat. Add milk, and beat until smooth. Spread glaze over
cooled cupcakes.

To create a thinner glaze, use 1-2 Tb more milk; for a
topping more akin to icing, use less milk and perhaps more
sugar. In either case, add a little sugar or milk at a time,
mix, and check for desired consistency.
