Ärende: last night's dinner

Hullo Michael!

Last night when Anne got home from spending the day out at her classroom, and I
got home from running errands all day we discovered that there was little to
have for dinner...so we decided to go "out" and also to go to someplace where
we'd never dined before. Near us are two new places, one a mexican "family"
restaurant and a Korean BBQ Buffet....we decided to go Korean.. We entered and
were immediately put in a booth...that has a "cooker" built right into the
middle of the table. There was no menu at all...after a few minutes the
waitress came over and we explained we had never been to this place before and
had no idea what to do...she spoke little english (we were the only round eyes
in the place) and asked us to follow her...we went across the restaurant to the
other side and came to a spot that looked like an all you can eat
buffet...except everything was Korean...one section was all fresh fruit, one
section was all soups (wanna go back for the spicey pork soup), one section was
all "cooked", one section was all Kimchee sort of stuff, like kimchee cucumbers
and regular kimchee and kimchee crabs!!!! (not big ones but smallish ones
smaller than your hand) and another section was all "raw meats" we grabbed a
plate and I went for the kimchee area, got spinach with sesame, kimchee
cucumbers, kimchee fishcake (not too spicy but too spicy for Anne), Korean
eggroll, not spicy but good, kimchee beansprouts...lots of the stuff that a
"regular" Korean place puts out in little bowls for you to enjoy with your
meal. I loaded up with all sorts of stuff...no raw meat though...and Anne
picked through and found the least spicy stuff she could and we went back to
our table....pretty soon the waitress came over (she had lit the cooker when we
were seated) and asked us if we were not going to "cook meat?" we explained
again that we had no idea what to do...so she went and got some of the raw meat
and brought it back for us....oh..........my ..........gooness! first was spicy
pork...nice bits of pork with good amounts of fat sliced very thin, she put
them on the cooker and oh the sizzle and smell were great! Then some beef (who
knows what cut but it was as well sliced very thin) then some bulgogi beef yum!
Then something that looked like short sections of beef rib, about 2inches or so
with the marinated meat wrapped around it like a package...she took scissors
and cut the meat along the bone and peeled off thin strip after thin strip and
put them on the cooker.....wonderful! we then were instructed to take lettuce
leaves, soybean paste and some sliced up salad like stuff and make some sort of
korean taco with the meat and then eat....it was great! The waitress left and
we went to work...and Anne mentioned that the dinner was going to be
expensive....I said why? She said she thought she had seen a sign when we came
in that said 20.99 each....and she got up to go check and see if she had been
right....and she was 20.99 each for the buffet...I asked her why she had not
mentioned this until we were seated and eating and she said she thought I had
seen the sign(I hadn't). So I decided I was gonna at least get my money's worth
outta the place.....and proceeded to make a pig of myself...and boy o boy did I
get stuffed! Dinner came to $45 for the two of us quite a bit more than we
anticipated but still an interesting dinner... They have a lunch special for
about $15 which we may try next time you come visit!
