Ah, that is then 'Patis' otherwise called 'Nam Pla'.  Do not be confused too
much though on asian ingredients.  They tend to list them in order of
'importance' vice actual percentage.  Thin amber color is good. A slightly
darker amber is better but should still be 'amber' when compared to soy sauce.

Whats the sodium rating if it has one?  Thats the main reason why I get the
Tiparos brand.  Same flavor and Don has to watch his sodium intake now.

I am sure I have seen Hokan brand in some things.  I suspect they are pretty
good so might try them if the sodium content is ok.  Should be no more than
700mg per TB for us though with a full flavored Patis, can be higher since you
use it by the 1/4 ts in 3-4 serving meal.

American marketing put the fat-free label on it.  In Asia, they wouldnt bother
as it's a fat-free thig like rock candy is fat-free <g>.
