These are scissors; the blade is undr 7".  They were meant for use with
probably more thread clipping than fabric as the blades are equal in
size. I've got a pair of Ginghers trim scissors where the blades are
different sizes.

Heavens, no!  The only thing I've tried is the little ceramic rod in a
Fiskars "sharpener".

It's possible.  Found out there's a professional sharpener in the area;
I asked at one of the fabric stores in town.  He sets up at a week end
(indoor) flea market.  So, this next week, I'll hunt up the scissors and
we'll pay him a visit on Saturday.
