Ok, that was excellent and wierd at the same time.  We are in the Miyako
Hakata (Fukuoka) hotel.  The room is the smallest one we've ever been in
but it's well laid out so it works well enough.  The hotel ceiling is
low enough a 6'4" fellow would have to stoop as he walked along the hall
(inside the room is taller).

Don and Charlotte wanted other than Japanese tonight so it was the
italian place at the hotel.  We got 2 of the simplest 'full menu' types
and Charlotte had a spagetti-like thing with eggplants that she liked.

Don wasnt sure what to order, so I helped.  It was good that I'd been
reading here as the menu was japanese or italian.  I ordered off the
italian one.

First nibble was a simple potato and green something with lots of olive
oil, just a few big bites worth.  Seaweed was used as part of the
seasoning.

Came with warm bread and a decent italian olive oil.  Down points as
they didnt have black pepper or any other seasonings to add to the
breading oil plate. I'm used to basalmic vinigar and romano with black
pepper mixed into the oil you dip the bread in.  That was the only
downside in the menu. Even the bread was good!

Next was a ceasar salad, small one.  Just right.  The shaved romano was
very well done.

Next a pasta dish.  I got one with prosicutto in a cream sauce with
purple seaweed swimming in a dashi with cream sauce. Excellent but
towards the end, it started tasting a bit salty. Don had a tomato
based one with mushrooms (Enoki and shmenji were noted, Don said some
cloud ear too and he's sure a bit of Gobo root).

Meat dish for Don was a sort of sweet glazed pork bit.  Mine was a
perfectly done blackened slice of salmon with a crusty crunch to it at
the top but still delicate inside.

Dessert was a small square of very soft cake, much like poundcake but
soft as warm butter.  A small scoup of gelato, and some fruit topped
thing with egg custard over a thick crust.  Charlotte had a larger scoup
of gelato.  Don skipped dessert and had just coffee.  I had coffee.

I had 2 glasses of the white table wine.  I didnt get the name but it
was good enough to order a second glass at 800 yen each.

12,800yen later, we left stuffed to the gills.  (110$ roughly).  The
fusion wasnt all that obvious in how I typed it, but the tastes showed
it to be one of the best mixes I've seen. Generally, you want to avoid
Italian foods in Japan (grin).  This place was the exception.

Off to the airport in the morning.  We will eat that the airport as one
of our favorite places is there.
