=====================
Hey Ruth
->
-> -> I suspect your back would stop you from doing it more than once; that
-> -> is, if you got past Annie to do it one time.
->
-> HN> A few years back my doctor sat me down and told me I had "One good
-> HN> fall" left in my back....when I asked him what that meant he told
me
-> HN> one more good (good meaning significant) fall could cause enough
-> HN> damage that I might not be able to walk unassisted anymore. So I
quit
->  HN> around and don't relish the
-> HN> thought of being wheelchair bound if I can prevent it. So while I
->  HN> might really WANT to bunjee jump, I know I won't.
->
-> I know the feeling. I wrecked my right knee whie in college and to keep
-> it functional I've had to give up a lot of activity. OTOH, at age 7 I
-> broke my left elbow; at the time, the doctor said that if I ever did it
-> again, it would be unrepairable. I did it again, 40 years later and
-> have about 95% of original function. But, the doctor that repaired it
-> this time gave me the same warning so now I'm over cautious with it (and
-> other joints). BTW, the foot is doing better overall; it still hurts if
-> I've been on my feet overly much but it's much better than it was, even
-> a year ago.
->
Medical advances over the past 40 years or so have been tremendous, and I
hope the advance rate stays that good or better for the next 40. That said
however spinal injuries are still one of the most life altering and most
difficult to treat and heal from. I am happy to hear that your foot problem
has progressed to the point where you feel comfortable on it for an
extended length of time! Are you still doing physical therapy for it?

-> -> HN> But he lets you have as much as you want though right?
->
-> -> Generally, tho I usually only get it if I'm out. I've got a Boston
-> -> out, if there's something else that looks more attractive on the
menu, I
-> -> will probably go for that over the pork.
->
-> HN> Like me and Annie with seafood...when I get it, it's usually when
-> HN> we're out, or when Amanda is home to share it with me...Anne
wouldn't
-> HN> mind me cooking it for myself at home..but my thoughts are why cook
-> HN> two meals at the same time? ->
->
-> Same here. I was thinking of cooking some while Steve's folks were here
-> but that trip got postponed until who knows when. Steve would have
-> eaten a bit but I'd have had some other meat for him, same sides most
-> likely.
->
This weekend I'll do a crock pot pulled pork recipe that will be the
mainstay of several of next week's meals.
->
-> -> HN> not much difference between the two versions, but it's not one
that
-> ->  HN> have cooked in a long time!
->
-> -> Same here; it used to be a meal stretcher when the girls were home,
same
-> -> as sloppy joes or taco salad. Now that it's the 2 of us, meat goes
-> -> further.
->
-> HN> Living as a couple again certainly has it's perks!
->
-> Sure does! We don't even have a cat, dog, bird or fish to worry about
-> so we can just get up & go whenever we want (outside of work schedules).
->
We have a dog, a bird, and a bunch of fish, but we still manage to be a bit
footloose when we want to be!

->
-> -> HN> New York pizzaria's...It's hand thrown and cooked in a woodfired
-> ->  HN> oven...and quite expensive too $17 for a 16 inch cheese pizza!
->
-> -> That's a good pizza then. We ended up not going to Hilton Head on
-> -> Saturday; instead, helped a couple from church move. They ordered
-> -> Domino's pizza for lunch for the moving crew (us and another family
from
->
-> HN> It is a good pizza, but at that price we don't get it often (also
its'
-> HN> a higher carb meal than we usually go for anymore as well).
->
-> We've cut back from the once a week we had it when we were younger.
-> Most of the time we've had it, it's been home made.
->
We cut back as well, we usually only go out for the pizza once a month or
less now.

-> -> We're in the low 60s and cloudy today. Definately fall weather; time
to
-> -> get some soup going.
->
-> HN> I picked up a really nice acorn squash at the local farmer's market
-> HN> and will be using it in a soup this evening!
->
-> Sounds good to me. We got a butternut squash at the commissary I'll be
-> roasting up soon.
->
I made a very simple soup from the acorn squash, I steamed the squash and
put it into a pot with 1 can of chicken broth, two cups of half and half
(fat free in our case) one sautee'd onion and a nice dollop of light sour
cream...it was superb! Had to add a wee bit of salt and a pinch of nutmeg
but all in all simple was gooood! it was a big squash so the soup was very
thick and there was plenty of it, enough that I froze half of the leftovers
and used the other half for dinner last night with grilled cheese (and ham)
sandwiches.
chat with you soon
