Blame commercial TV and Hollywood.  I tell people here that I have been
to USA several times and I have not been shot or stabbed even once!

I thought they used the Renminbi; or have they bought all the USAn
dollars now?  I just heard on the radio that the Chinese are thinking
of unloading some of their US $$.  That will push down their value.

That made me ponder on what food I last ate 500g of, unaccompanied....
Fruit, such as grapes, durian, mango, peaches and similar.  In fact, I
can deal with a kilo of any of the above.

White, probably of Anglo descent.  Probably not of a culture of which
beggars are a part.

She didn't appear to be of the culture of beer bummers, and in fact she
left in the opposite direction from the pub.

More likely on who appears most likely to give.

Thinking about beggars who have approached me in various places, apart
from the ones outside supermarkets or using phones and representing
disability organisations, the most common in Australia are white or
aboriginal alcoholics wanting money for drinks or drugs.  People
sitting on the footpaths with a "Hungry, no money" notice propped up
alongside are more common in NZ and Europe.  In Toronto they wave their
notices at motorists.  In Rome they prefer to help themselves more
directly with hands in your pockets.  Filipino beggars display their
disabilities, babies or blind grannies while going with hands
outstretched from car to car at traffic jams .

I now have 3 Halal butcher shops near home, and one pork and chicken
outlet (The Lucky Asian), so I am well supplied with quality meat.

      Title: Terong Belado / Eggfruit In A Spicy Sauce
 Categories: Malaysian, Asia-se, Sauces
      Yield: 1 Servings
 
    500 g  Eggfruit
           ;sliced lengthwise
      4    Chillies- red
           ;seeds discarded
      4    Chillies- green
           ;seeds discarded
      1    Onions
           ;chopped
      2 tb Oil
           Salt
      4    Limes- juice of...
 
  Fry the eggfruit until half-cooked. Leave to drain and reserve. Crush
  the chillies and onions in a mortar and pestle.
  
  Heat the oil in a skillet and fry the chilli paste and salt, until the
  aromas develop. Stir with the lime juice, add the eggfruit and mix
  well.
