RH> I do that with most of mine but didn't have any empty jars when we got
RH> these spices. They come in a zip top bag--easy to grab a good pinch.
RH> I've got some jars now but haven't done the transfer yet.

CS> I have no empty jars at all just now. Thats comes in time. Some of my

RH> I had no empty jars either when I bought these. Bought several glass
RH> jars at Fresh Market but still have those herbs/spices in the fridge.

I was looking at some cute ones for jarring jams and things. I could reuse
them when the time comes to make jams next year.

CS> spices are in ziplocks like you (ones i shipped to myself).

RH> Less worry about breakage to jars. (G)

Less weight to pay for was in my mind! That and the box didnt fit the jars
well but the baggies were perfect.

 CS> (on eating out)

RH> That it does. And with just the 2 of us........... We tried a
RH> Pepino's (Mexican) the other day. Their menus have printed on them
RH> that they give a 20% discount to military so our meal, including tip
 RH> was about $20. Steve got chili colorado--quite hot & spicy. I got a

CS> See, thats what we dont have just now. 10,000$ worth of bills and
 CS> there ya go.

RH> Oh I understand, very well. Had a FRG leadership training meeting
RH> today from 9-4 with a lunch break. Steve picked me up and we went over
RH> to the Hunter Club with another soldier who's FRG liaison for our
RH> company. The tab for the 3 of us was under $20., tip included.

Not bad! Me, I'm stuffed with ribs. The live crabs got cooked but will wait
til we eat them later. We actually like them cold or rewarmed just a little
with a dashi-tofu-spinach soup mix at the side.

RH> chips and salsa on the table as we sat down, even before giving us a
RH> menu (had to ask for it and what non alcholic drinks were available).

CS> Expected to have them there right away. Thats how it is in Mexico.

RH> Yes but most places we get to sit down before getting the chips. We
RH> wer also asked what we wanted to drink before being given a menu and
RH> seeing what was available, then having to ask what non alcoholic drinks
RH> they had none listed on the menu.

Ah, well at Mia Casitas, they bring the chips with them as they seat you and
within 2 mins 2 salsas are there.

CS> Today, I looked over my uniform for checking in tomorrow. I couldnt
CS> find but 1 black sock. Go figure? Since i needed a few things (last

CS> The reason for Harris Teeter this time was a loss-leader sale. Snow

CS> Ah, I'm spending money at the grocery store on the good stuff.
CS> Normally we eat out more but not just now.

RH> We're getting good stuff at the store too, just a bit short on cash on
RH> hand that day & didn't want to use plastic for real food. (G)

Understandable. By now you see my Asian Market trip. I had forgotten about
the ribs so we ended up freezing the butterfish. I'll make a miso marinade for
it later and add 1/2 of it to Charotte's lunch sometime this week.

RH> Fresh Market has quite a meat/seafood/poultry case. Most everything
RH> is pricey so we've not tried much. They even sell crab cakes, kebabs,
RH> and all sorts of easy to cook and eat pre done "fancy" things but at a
 RH> fancy price.

I think I may have seen one of those places on Route58 out near the ocean
front.
(I got turned around heading for Asia Market off London Bridge road and went
the wrong way so showed Charlotte the beach for a few moments.)

CS> Got some fruit and stuff for Charlotte. Got to show Charlotte how to

CS> Nope and as we've been doing many things like that as soon as she
CS> could read, she's pretty advanced as far as average adults go on many
 CS> grocery shopping tactics.

RH> Good! It means whn she does get out on her own in a few years (all
RH> too soon mom) she will be shopping savvy. But she will have to know
RH> how to cook what she buys.

Yes, showed her a durian at the Asian Market and was very tempted to get a cake
of it frozen. I decided not to for the moment as Charlotte may not like it and
I forgot to ask Don if he likes it. (He doesnt).

RH> Instead you get to go back to work. We now have less than 18 months
 RH> until Steve retires.

CS> Same for me as Steve and i are pretty close on such. May 2009 for me.

RH> Just one month; we went to a Navy retirement (on the Missouri) while
RH> out in HI. It was a fun experience.

Too bad we live so far away. It would be funny to do a combined retirement!
                xxcarol
