Was having a quick schnapps with the next door neighbor the
other day, and we were telling GPS stories, and he said that
in the early days of the talking navigator machines, he tried
one out that was equipped with a Teutonic female voice that,
when you went so far out of your way as to the gas station
would shout "GET BACK ON TRACK. GET BACK ON TRACK!"

Agar makes a rather resilient product. The Chinese are
rather fond of the texture. It's got a distinct hardness
in the mouth, differing quite a bit from the quivery
gooiness of gelatin.

 DS> it is not kosher, and some people are allergic to it.

But this is where coal tar and petroleum products come in
handy. Neither the laws of Kashrut nor of PETA say anything
about eating the products of foreign oil.

There are Kosher vegetarian marshmallows available for
a slight premium over the normal product.

Snobbism, one. Fear of cancer and poisoning, two. Both
heavily aided and abetted by the advertising people.

I must admit to having spent time in places where the
public water supply has been borderline potable at best.

In such places, one might prefer beverages such as this:

Brass Monkey
cat: booze
servings: 1

1/2 oz rum
1/2 oz vodka
4 oz orange juice

Toss the rum & vodka together and stir gently. Next,
pour in the orange juice . Shake well. Pour over ice.
