====================================================================
Hi Hap,

-> This one was probably focusing on what was available for its next meal.

 HN> That's what they usually do! Most people think when they are flying
 HN> they are looking for food...which is not usually the case; it's when
 HN> they are perched and focused that they are more likely to find
 HN> something to

Concentrate, concentrate...................................and you'll
have orange juice! (G)

 HN> eat....they just love flying (wouldn't you if you could?) so they fly
 HN> for the sheer joy of it (little bit of anthropomorphism there )

That's debateable at this stage of my life.

-> HN> heels, and it's pretty inflamed and sore. I thought the doc would

-> Ouch; as an elementary school teacher she has to be on her feet a lot
-> with the kids. That is hard with good feet, really hard with hurting
-> ones.

 HN> Specially when she's teaching 2nd graders...Lots of crouching down to
 HN> get to their level...which she needs to NOT do!

That's the grade Rachel is teaching this year. She called me the other
night with a sewing related question for their winter program. I think
we got it worked out over the phone; if I were closer, I would have
whipped up the project in an afternoon.

-> HN> about that because it means sponge baths all week instead of long
->  HN> showers! (grin)

-> Can she not put it in a plastic bag (well taped shut)? We adapted the
-> shower head here, as well as the one in HI, to a detachable one on a
-> foot surgery); we put a camp chair in the tub so I can sit and "sorta"

 HN> He doesn't want her wandering about barefoot without her orthotic in
 HN> place...but I suspect Anne may try a shower soon...she's a shower
 HN> junkie!

That's where she can sit and shower. I've got a set of orthotics that
can go from one set of shoes to another; wonder how much I'll be using
them with the Rockports and other better shoes I've bought over the last
few months.

-> HN> How do you make pea soup with out pork products in it? I LOOOOOVE
-> HN> split pea soup and always put lots of pork in it!

-> Smoked turkey has almost the same flavor; I use a good bit of that and
-> Steve is a happy camper.

 HN> Ok, I'll confess that smoked turkey is good too...almost as good as
 HN> pork...not quite...but suitable in an emergency...But I betcha if you
 HN> put in some smoked ham hocks Steve'd never know the diff (grin)!

He probably wouldn't but since he goes shopping with me, I can't pick
them up without his knowing. With the smoked turkey, he's happy and the
soup has a good meaty flavor.

-> HN> Scupper's is fairly well behaved, but he is spoiled as he gets lots
-> HN> attention from both Anne and me.

-> And Amanda when she's home. (G) Sam, our cocker spaniel, was, despite
-> her trying not to spoil him initially, was Deborah's dog. He'd follow

 HN> Scupper's is a good pup, right now he's curled up at my feet under the
 HN> puter table, if I move out to the kitchen (next on the list) to do
 HN> dishes he'll stay here (on his blanket) till he hears me moving to
 HN> other parts of the house (or he hears food sounds in the kitchen
 HN> instead of dishwashing sounds (grin)) If I sit on the couch in the
 HN> living room he'll be up on the arm of the couch laying down across my
 HN> lap in a wink!!

It's a dog's life! And he's living it to the hilt.

-> HN> I don't have much money, but don't need much, so Anne and I are in
 HN> a
-> HN> happy little spot where we have enough to meet our needs, and we
 HN> don't
-> HN> need to make more problems ! (grin)
 HN> ->
-> I know, I'm giving you a hard time. Some people would jump at the chance
-> but don't realise how much work goes into making those $$.
 HN> ->

 HN> It would take a big chunk of money to convince me to give up my
 HN> retirement for a full time job...I like the Mariners job cause I get
 HN> to watch baseball for pay...and it's just plain ol FUN to do most of

I know you would never go back. We never intended to go beyond 4 years
in the military but are now well into our 25th. At times it's (very)
frustrating, others, (very) rewarding. The finances may be a bit below
that in the civilian world but we've always had a roof over our head,
clothes on our back (uniforms mostly for Steve) and food on the table.
Had all that in the civilain world before Steve went in but it was
harder scrabbbling to attain it.

 HN> the time. To give that up, and the ability to spoil Anne on a daily
 HN> basis would take a big BIG paycheck!

Yep, and you don't have the worrys of PT, early am formation,
inspections, all that good stuff. (G)
