Lily, my jewelry store friend is half Italian, half Slovenian. One
of her Slovenian aunts married an Hungarian. He claims that the best
pizza in Europe is made in Dobrovnik! Their style is lots of spicy
tomato sauce, scant cheese, lots of meats, and a thick bready crust.

It seems they make pizza of some type everywhere....

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: AWW PIZZA
 Categories: Mains, Tnt, Italian
      Yield: 4 servings
 
     15 g  Yeast- compressed
    1/2 ts Sugar
    1/2 c  Water; lukewarm
  1 1/2 c  Flour- plain
           Pn Salt
      2 tb Oil
           FILLING:
      2 ts Oil
      1    Onions
      1    Garlic cloves
    400 g  Tomatoes; whole/canned
      1 tb Tomato paste
    1/2 ts Oregano leaves
    1/2 ts Basil leaves
      1 ts Sugar
           Salt and pepper
           TOPPING:
    125 g  Mozzarella
      2 tb Parmesan; grated
     60 g  Anchovy fillets
     60 g  Olives- black
      3    Mushrooms
      1 sm Capsicums
 
  A crisp base holds a topping of herb-flavoured tomatoes and
  golden, melting cheese. The pizza can be prepared and frozen in
  its unbaked form. Put, frozen, into hot oven; allow about an extra
  10 minutes' cooking time.
  
  Cream yeast with sugar, add lukewarm water, let stand 10 minutes
  or until bubbles appear on surface. Sift flour and salt in bowl,
  make well in centre, add oil and yeast mixture. Mix to a firm
  dough by hand.
  
  Turn dough onto floured surface, knead for 10 minutes or until
  dough is smooth and elastic. Place in lightly oiled bowl, cover,
  stand in warm place 30 minutes or until dough has doubled in bulk.
  
  Knock dough down, knead into smooth ball. Flatten dough into
  circle about 2.5cm thick. Roll out from centre to edge to fit 25cm
  pizza pan.
  
  FILLING:

  Heat oil in pan, add peeled and finely chopped onion. Cook until
  onion is transparent. Add crushed garlic, stir for 1 minute, add
  undrained mashed tomatoes and remaining ingredients. Bring sauce
  to boil, reduce heat, simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally.
  
  Combine the grated mozzarella cheese and Parmesan, sprinkle half
  over pizza. Top with well drained anchovy fillets, chopped pepper
  and finely sliced mushrooms. Sprinkle with halved olives and
  remaining cheese. Bake in hot oven 15 to 20 minutes.
