Carol essentially finished eating down the fridge, so
there was nothing left, so we went to Fins, a "Hawaiian
fusion" place down the road that gave us via Val-Pak a
$10 coupon.

We got a booth right by the silverware rattler, but that
didn't bother me as much as the evil Muzak, which included
hideous covers of '60s and '70s songs. Our waitress was
very genial, more so when we got a bottle of wine (the
B&G Cotes du Rhone '03, which tasted very like a thin
Aussie Shiraz, with slightly watery plum and evergreen
notes and a little vanilla).

We ordered spicy tuna sushi and seaweed salad for starters,
followed by chicken breast stuffed with lump crabmeat and
Cheddar and a rum-raisin pork chop (guess who got what).

Rolls come - pumpernickel and white with cinnamon-honey
butter. Carol kvelled over the pumpernickel, while I Just
Said No.

After an interminable wait, we asked our waitress about our
starters. She first said, "what appetizers?" and then turned
a funny color and said something to the effect of "Oh, my
God, I completely forgot." It is not a surprise that she was
a blonde. Well, it was about time for our main course, so
we cancelled the appetizers, whereupon she said that dessert
was on her.

The rum-raisin pork chop, rare, was a right-size chop but
with the meat part thinner than the bone part (this is a
great irritation at prime rib restaurants) - so the meat part
was kind of medium while the part near the bone was in fact
rare. It was enough to eat. The rum-raisin sauce was dead
sweet, the rum nowhere in evidence; so I avoided it. Asparagus
and roast potatoes came with, only I told them to forget the
potatoes. I got extra asparagus, which were fat steamed then
roasted spears, pretty good. Carol's chicken breast was actually
excellent, very juicy, not overdone, with good crabmeat and
good cheese. A mango sauce didn't do much harm except to not go
with the wine. She got the same asparagus (what's with this?
it hasn't been asparagus season for like 6 months, but I'm not
complaining, as the likely alternative is squash) and mash,
which I didn't try.

The suitably chastened waitress offered us dessert menus, but I
asked her if she was really going to get docked for the dessert,
and she said yes, so we didn't have dessert.

Back home to a glass of rum and early to bed as the
Stupid Shuttle comes at 5:30.
