I was lucky, I knew a lot of the local Hawaiian community, 
and had superb references from all my previous landlords.
I even got to rent a mansion for three months up in the 
Nuuanu valley simply because of being well known locally!

In my 4 years there I got to live in a lot of places, from
right down in Waikiki, Makiki, Ewa Beach, Haleiwa, Kaimuki,
