I'd not say that they choose the GAL convention 
over any other one, they probably go to more 
than one convention, I know I would! I will admit
that there are not many violin builders at the GAL
unless there is a focus on that craft in the seminar
planning. And there are MORE guitar/dulcimer/banjo
etc, builders than violin builders.

It's biggest drawback is it's far from the nearest 
airport and while it's a scenic drive to get there,
it is a bit of a drive! Still it has it's attractions!
