Hi Ruth,

That's about it.  Just about any time of the year, it's dark by 7:30;
earlier than that in the winter, but even in summer, not really enough
of an obvious change in daylight hours.

A lot of ours has come from the ground being so saturated by water.
With all of the development over the last 30 years or so on the islands,
especially Oahu, ground that used to absorb a lot of the water has been
covered over by housing or roads.  With no place for the water to go,
it'll just stay and cause more trouble in the next storm.  BTW, did you
hear about the sewage pipe break/spill in Honolulu?  That has caused a
big stink, in more ways than one.

-> campus center opened up in 72, most of the meals at the college were
-> served there.  Another dorm had a dining hall; both were superseeded by
-> the campus center which served the food cafeteria style, vs the sit
-> down/family style of the old system.

There were only 2 dining facilities for the whole school at Houghton.
Sophomore guys and up could live off campus & some of them had kitchen
priviledges in the house they roomed in.  This was changed about the tim
the dorm was demolished--junior & senior girls could live off campus and
sophomore guys were moved into a new dorm.

I don't know; my dad spent the war in the Navy & started his coffee
drinking afterward--when he went to college.
