The first echo picnic you come to will, no doubt have a durian present. 
If for no other reason than to let you in on the delights. Most of the 
rest of us have done durian. And will again - gladly. Heck durian was 
available here in the Great American Outback until the spring tornadoes 
erased the Asian Foods Market on the west side of town.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Hvorost
 Categories: Russian, Appetizers, Classic
      Yield: 36 Appetizers
 
      2 lg Eggs
      3    Egg yolks
      1 tb Whipping cream
      1 tb Vanilla extract
      2 tb Sugar
  1 1/2 c  All-purpose flour
    1/2 ts Sat
           Oil for deep-frying
           Powdered sugar
 
  I want to offer you a delicious snack - "Hvorost" for Old New Year
  Parties. They can be sprinkled with salt instead of sugar and served
  with beer.

  Beat the eggs, egg yolks, cream and vanilla in a mixing bowl. Beat in
  sugar. Combine flour and salt separately; stir into the egg mixture
  until smooth. Divide the dough into four portions.
  
  On a well-floured surface, roll out a portion (1/8-inch thick). Cut
  into strips (1 1/2-inch); cut strips diagonally into three pieces.
  Slit lengthwise in the the center of each piece; pull one end of
  strip through slit to make a loop. Cover shaped pieces while rolling
  out and cutting the remaining dough.
  
  In a deep pan, heat oil to cover cookies. Fry coated hvorost, a few
  at a time, until golden. Drain on paper towels. Dust with powdered
  sugar or salt while warm.
