be all that amused, nor that I'd pander to her amusement in this

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.04

      Title: Bangkok-Style Glass Noodles
 Categories: Thai, Chilies, Noodles
      Yield: 4 Servings

  1 1/2 tb Freshly chopped ginger
      1 ts Minced Thai chili or
      1 sm Jalapeno, seeded and minced
      2    Cloves garlic, minced
      3 md Shallots, minced
    1/4 c  Low-sodium soy sauce
      2 tb Fresh lemon juice
      2 tb Brown or white sugar
  1 1/2 oz Bean threads (cellophane
           Noodles)
     10 oz Fresh or frozen sugar snap
           Peas, trimmed and cut in
           Half
      1    Red bell pepper, thinly
           Sliced, seeds reserved
    1/4 c  Chopped cilantro (optional)
      3    Scallions (including the
           Green part), thinly sliced
           Crushed red pepper

  This recipe calls for bean threads, which are delicate, translucent
  noodles made from mung beans. Sometimes called cellophane noodles,
  they're available in many supermarkets and in Asian markets. To
  serve, cut the portions of noodles with a scissors. To turn this into
  an entree, add skinned, defatted chicken strips, julienned lean beef
  or pork, or shrimp. Add them when you add the sugar snaps and pepper,
  and increase the cooking time from 3 minutes to 4.

  In a medium bowl, mix together the ginger, chili, garlic, shallots,
  soy, lemon juice, and sugar.

  In a large pot of boiling water, cook the bean threads 3 to 4 minutes
  until they are soft. Drain almost all the water, leaving a few
  tablespoons with the noodles. Return the pan to the stove and reduce
  the heat to low; stir in the ginger mixture, cover, and cook, for 3
  or 4 minutes, occasionally loosening the noodles from the bottom with
  a spatula. Stir in the peas, pepper, and reserved seeds and continue
  cooking for 3 minutes, occasionally loosening the noodles from the
  bottom; toss (it doesn't toss easily). Using a scissors, cut the
  noodles, dividing them evenly onto 4 individual plates. Sprinkle with
  cilantro, if using, scallions, and a pinch of crushed red pepper.
