Sounds good to me; I don't like US style fish sticks much.  Dried fish? 
I've chowed down on the dried baby sardines a few times.

out of season for example.
 
I've seen both in cans, but never fresh.

I'd imagine that the cyanide doesn't cook out, but I've never heard of
anyone being poisoned by an apricot pit!
