 My sympathies, though, I am getting a minor taste of this
 myself, though I didn't initiate it. A work crew was to
 have started tearing out the sliding door of my patio on
 Monday, plus whatever framing, drywall and flooring might
 show signs of rot after over 23 years. They didn't
 actually start on my place until Tuesday, today, so I wasted
 a vacation day waiting for them yesterday. I am in a
 1-bedroom apartment with a living/dining room, kitchen.
 bathroom and bedroom. To move furniture from the living/
 dining area to meet their needs left me a 3x4-ft area
 in front of the computer in that room, and a bunch of junk
 in the bedroom, like chairs I couldn't store otherwise.
 I had to move stuff into my entry so I can barely open
 my main door. I better not have a fire or other emergency!
 I hope they hurry with this stage. OTOH, it was
 interesting to rubberneck to find out how my dwelling was
 constructed, and that there was rot needing to be fixed!
 Now I am in a room with no windows, plywood-boarded up
 and very dark.

 But at least with the temporary enclosure they built
 today, at least I have some minimal privacy for getting
 up tomorrow in my jammies.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05

      Title: Very Old Fudge
 Categories: Candies, Five, Desserts
      Yield: 6 Servings

      2 c  White sugar
    1/2 c  Corn syrup
    1/2 c  Milk or cream
      1 ts Butter
      1 ts Vanilla

  Mix the first 4 ingredients, stirring occasionally. Boil
  until soft to medium ball stage. Cook, add vanilla and beat
  with a wooden spoon until stiff.

  Add nuts and cherries if desired.

  For chocolate fudge, add 2 tbls. cocoa.
