Grin, Remember 'eyeball soup slurps with eat my brains on the side' ???  Oh my.
The kids here would ask them to have fishsticks on the side (our version, not
American version).

That and 'hand-jobs' which are rice layered thinly in your hand then filled
with 'goodies' (roe is my favorite) and enclosed then with the hand so the
goodies are inside. the shape of the hand should be clear but mine dont turn
out quite as well, faltering slightly off perfect.  (hand Sushi might be a
traditional name).

I have never rwally gotten into canned salmon though there's no real reason.  I
guess i just got diverted to other things.  Probably see an upsurge in that
once I get stateside and cant get cheap seafood like I have here.

Same here.  Both fell by the wayside when presented with fresh squid and such.
Mackeral was always too 'fishy' for me.  That hasnt changed out here either. 
Had a limited time when I liked it but that was almost like my own little
foodie fad thing and i got over it.

Yes.  She's close to that too but just flat out not quite tall enough to want
to try it.  The rest other than the noodles, she can manage.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: Western Beans and Rice
 Categories: Main dish, Vegetarian, Vegan, Low-fat
      Yield: 6 Servings
 
      1 tb Vegetable oil
      1 c  Chopped onions
      1 c  Sliced celery
      8 oz Tomato sauce
    1/2 c  Water
    1/2 ts Salt
    1/4 ts Hot pepper sauce
           - (or more, to taste)
      3 c  Cooked or canned pinto beans
           - (OR any type of bean)
           -- drained
      3 c  Hot cooked brown rice
 
  In large skillet, cook onions and celery in oil until tender.  Stir in
  tomato sauce, water, seasonings, and beans.  Heat thoroughly.  Serve
  over hot rice.
  
  Each serving provides: * 270 calories * 10.6 g. protein * 3.3 g. fat
  * 50.5 g. carbohydrate * 270 mg. sodium * 0 mg. cholesterol
