======================
Howdy Ruth!
->
-> -> problems. Steve was talking to a doctor yesterday about the foot; this
-> -> one said that putting a plate in is very often the only way to go with
-> -> the kind of fracture I have. It should have been done after the CT scan
-> -> in May showed the new fracture--but that's 20/20 hindsight now.
->
-> hn> Remember that it that doctors opinion and "very often" isn't "every
-> hn> time". Hopefully though a good program will have you back up to
-> hn> dancing speed in short order!
->
->
-> Well, the CT scan is scheduled for Now.7 and a follow up visit to the
-> doctor is on the calendar for the 14th. The resolution to it all should
-> be pretty well established at that visit.
->
Looks like they are not sitting on their hands at least and you should get
some sort of decision fairly quickly....will make the holiday season brighter I

suspect!

-> -> -> A guest room, separate family and living rooms, dining room and
utility
->
-> ->  hn> That's LOTS of vacuuming (grin)!
->
-> -> Yes, the upstairs is just about all carpeted but mostly wood flooring
-> -> downstairs. I'm trying to talk Steve into letting me get another
-> -> vaccuum so I can keep one on each level. The one I have now is 20
some
->
-> hn> Look on craigslist.org for one! You'd be amazed at how much GOOD
stuff
-> hn> is saved from the landfills by craigslist...let me check and see if
-> hn> there is one for
->  hn> the savannah area
->
->  hn> http://savannah.craigslist.org/
->
-> hn> Yep there is one! But it doesn't look very active...the one here in
-> hn> Seattle is VERY active!
->
->
-> We've not done that yet but may be worth considering. Some times, the
-> older stuff is much better, as is the case with my vaccuum. The only
-> major drawback to its age is that bags are harder to find but its heavy
-> duty metal vs cheap plastic and uses a bag (better for me than bagless).
->
get one of those hepa filters...you're in a dustbucket part of the country with

all the sand and such!
->
-> -> We'll be here thru spring of 09 so that gives you a bit of time to think
-> -> about it.
->
-> hn> I'll probably be back there before then for sure!
->
->
-> And by then we should have some favorite "haunts" around here that we
-> can take you to. Went back to Uncle Bubba's on Saturday ofr Steve's
-> birthday but I had such a migraine I brought most of my food home. The
-> scallops reheated without toughening up! But, while there, I had a nice
-> thick spicy cup of seafood gumbo--with a scallop that was the size of a
-> half dollar or so in it!
->
YUm!
->
-> -> Most likely. (G) We got in for free in 95 with the government shut down
->
-> hn> We spent a day and a half, but I'd like to spend more time and do
some
-> hn> trekking to some of the less popular areas of the park as
->  hn> well....photography y'know (grin)
->
->
-> Yes, you could shoot for days and get a lot of great shots out there. I
-> understand completly.

I could shoot for days and days and months!
->
-> -> But a good teacher can make it look so easy! Rachel hadn't really
-> -> thought too much about teaching until after she finished her AA degree.
-> -> Then, the City of Charleston College only had openings in the el ed dept
->
-> hn> Anne had to be talked into it! Her first degree was in Animal
-> hn> Laboratory science (she worked in a major medical research facility),
-> hn> and after Amanda was born she stayed home with her....then when
Amanda
-> hn> went to school..so did we (grin). Anne was so good that she became
-> hn> does it...I could never do it! She has mentored two student teachers
->
-> Interesting how those that never consider teaching end up being some of
-> the best teachers in the long run. I've done somebut if I were to go
-> into it, I'd have to learn some instructional methods better than what I
-> do now.
->
Lots of people think it's just an "easy" job, and teacher's pay reflects that
lack of respect for the proffession....but to do it well takes a LOT of
dedication and hard study to learn not just to teach but how to deal with
multitudes of levels of learning ability and such. I have a friend who is a
CPA
and he's making well over 100k/yr....and he's just finished his masters....Anne

doesn't make half that with lots more schooling under her belt.

-> hn> and both of them got hired immediately as well. She's on a couple of
-> hn> advisory boards for the program where she got her AA as well....What
-> hn> I'd like to see is for her to get her phd and teach at the University
-> hn> where she got her
->  hn> bachelors and masters..she'd be a great teacher for teachers....but
-> hn> she loves being in the classroom with the kids too much at this point
->
-> Well, kids need good teachers in the early years to keep them interested
-> in learning and carrying on in the educational field. The early years,
-> and the instructional years (learning how to teach) are probably the
-> most critical for becoming a good teacher. Ann obviously enjoys the
-> first phase.
->
She loves kids and kids love (and respond to her)her; coupled with her skills,
she get results from kids where others have failed or given up.....it takes a
toll on her as well but she's tenacious and will find a way to help a kid
learn...and love to learn! I think she'd be good at doing research as
well....but hey, I'm only the hubby (grin)
chat with you soon
