I think my father's tastebuds have completely gone kaput.
Everything is "horrible" or "inedible." Of course, a lot of what
I find in the fridge actually is - he served me some cheese
that tasted exactly like mildew and some sticky rice that had
sandy bits in the middle of each kernel (he proudly told me
he made it himself).

He got a bunch of moon cakes for one of the festivals:

Mi-automne (that's what it says - literally, it would
mean "delicious flesh of a fruit cakez for the mid-autumn
celebration). These come in 4 colors - white (lychee),
yellow (mango), green (apple), and purple (blueberry); the
colors are this funny artificial pastel color sort of
like Peeps. Father says they are inedible. I didn't find
them that bad - just a little peculiar. These are wobbly
pastries of about 1.5" diameter, a soft sticky rice flour
dough around a fruit filling. The white has an outrageous
lychee aroma (bespeaking a bit of artificial boosting that
isn't listed in the ingredients) but a not unpleasant taste.
Plus, it has chunks of fruit (all of them do). Green has
little smell but when you take a bite, Jolly Rancher comes
up in big caps in your head, mostly from the outside goo;
the filling is quite like apple pie filling, but no spices.
The yellow has a coconut and butter aroma; the outside has
a strong mango taste, but the jam tastes of unidentified
acid substance plus slightly rancid butter: perhaps they
used green mango? Purple - the outside was pretty neutral,
perhaps like cream of something cereal, but there was a
copious amount of blueberry-apple (? or -pear) jelly inside,
also probably boosted by artificial purple flavor. I did an
experiment and nuked a green one for a while - the aroma
remains negligible; the main difference is that the coating
takes on a texture between mucus and marshmallow, but
unlike both of these it isn't easily soluble in water.
Ingredients: rice flour, tapioca starch, sugar, jam (sugar,
blueberry, apple, mango, lychee), butter, syrup. 

Y.J.X. Bakery Inc. lotus seed moon cake - again my father
thought them horrible (but continued to eat them). I tried one
and thought it slightly stale but ok - a few seconds in the
nuker helped a lot.

Hershey's Extra Dark tasted against Hershey's Special Dark
with chocolate truffle filling. I will admit that the extra
stuff tasted much better after the special; the special,
though smooth, was too sweet and not nearly chocolaty enough,
with the filling tasting like pure fat. There is also a bag
that has Special Dark with almonds and Special Dark with
toffee - leftovers from Halloween; don't know if I have the
guts to try them.

T.G.I. Friday's Buffalo-style wings - I really wanted to hate
these. When my brother cooked them up, the smell of vinegar
assaulted me from the next floor ... I went upstairs and
tasted them. They're plumpish wing segments coated in a very
red, sticky vinegar not-so-hot sauce, the chicken perhaps of
decent provenance but quite old, so that bits by the bone
tasted of oxidation. The sauce was dreadful. They were soggy,
the breading soaked with red vinegar. Guess what? I hated them.
My brother looked at me as I ate one. "Good, huh?" he said.
I grunted.

Calavo Fiesta Guacamole - also extremely vinegary, little if
any avocado flavor. Worse than their non-Fiesta guac, which
at least has some avocado flavor (albeit rotten avocado).
