======================
Hi Ruth,

-> So how do you know that he knows it?

 RH> Stories told in sermon illustrations. (G)

OK, that's good enough proof. Our one pastor in AZ used to tell stories
about the 5 kids in his family & being piled into the back of a station
wagon. Steve & I had no problems understanding; we'd been raised as
part of 5 kid families with the parents driving a station wagon.

-> RH> anything, reverse carved lucite.....:-)

-> I've got to see the piece to know if I like it or not. Some stuff can
-> be pure ugly but have a great write up & vice versa.

 RH> Yep. I've seen some pretty plastic and some really butt-ugly gold.
 RH> OTOH, the gold you can at least melt down and recast!

True, if you have a metalsmith in the area. I'd have to search one
out--one of the fun parts of moving is finding new connections. We've
not yet found a natural foods store that carries stuff in bulk bins.

-> RH> Working on it. I'll call tomorrow and see when to show up and read

-> And???????????????

 RH> And I got the shot. No book reading though; I worked on sewing the
 RH> binding on that wall hanging I started at the beginning of this year.
 RH> About two months ago I figured it was high time I finished it off. I

I found my bin of UFOs yesterday. It's stuff I cut out in HI but planned
to finish here for the most part, with some things that just need minor
finishing work like hems, buttons, etc in it as well.

 RH> spent tonight restringing one necklace and creating a second one

I spent last night at church for supper, Bible study/prayer time & choir
practice. Days are spent unpacking & trying to get the house in order.
Found my baby crock pot so it's got a small beef roast in it today. I
found my pots and pans a couple of hours ago.

->  RH> I need a backing beeper!

-> I'm not that bad. (G)

 RH> It depends. When my pressure nerves go wonky, like tonight, things
 RH> can get a little strange.

Want to borrow my cane?

-> larger one) and "California blend" veggies (baby carrots, broccoli &
-> cauliflower. The cooking inside a bag feature was convenient in a place
-> with limited cooking ability but the results were less than stellar.

 RH> My mother likes that Birdseye nuke in bag stuff. I think it's OK,
 RH> with reservations.

That's the brand we got; I can just see old Clarence spinning in his
grave over the quality (or lack thereof).

-> little bags of broccoli were supposed to serve 3 but barely gave 2
-> adults a serving each. All in all, a good idea in theory but the

 RH> That sounds like those boil in bag veggies. They can be nuked in bag
 RH> too. The really annoying ones are the Birdseye veggies in a black
 RH> nukable
 RH> plastic bowl. You're supposed to peel back the lid, but it doesn't
 RH> peel. It might be worth putting up with the lid of the veggies and
 RH> sauce were any good. THey aren't.

Well, I've uncovered most of my cookware now so I won't bother with
veggie bowls. Have to get a small freezer so I can do some stock up
cooking. I think I'll try & find a home for most of my canning jars
(easily replaceable if I need to) and about half of my freezer boxes
(smaller freezer, won't hold as many).

-> Rachel and Deborah. These are more cherished but Rachel's cat ate the
-> straw hat on the girl monkey (out of jealousy?).

 RH> My sister's cat Dot likes giftwrap ribbon and string. She'll eat it
 RH> if she can. Indoor cats eat weird stuff.

Our last cat would pretty well ignore my machine sewing but had a 6th
sense of when I was working with elastic. She didn't care for many toys
but loved to play with elastic as I was trying to insert it. She also
loved lap time when I was working on a counted cross stitch project; I
don't know how many things have Jenny fur stitched in as part of the
design.

-> Same situation now with some of the volunteers since the public schools
-> seem to be lacking in teaching some of the basic skills. But too, the
-> military has a larger percentage of its forces with post secondary
-> degrees than the general public.
 RH> ->
 RH> I'd heard that. When they had a draft they got guys who grew up on
 RH> farms in the deep South who left school in the third grade.... My Dad
 RH> got
 RH> drafted with some guys who were sharecropper's kids; they thought
 RH> getting up at 5AM was normal, but shoes were a novelty.

Now they make them stay in school until age 16--shoes may still be a
novelty in some parts of the south tho.

-> RH> Or at least pre-cut! The pieces were almost square when I cut them
-> RH> out of the book.

-> Well, if you wanted it a bit more fitted, then you wouldn't have needed
-> to even square some of them up-make it taper a bit to the waist.

 RH> It ended up elastic - no tapering needed.

I'd still, even with an elastic waist, try to fit it a bit more.
Nothing worse than a big bulge of fabric at your belly level when you
sit down; if it can be reduced by better fitting, then I'll do so.

Catch you later,
Ruth
