Ärende: I'm sorta back - I think

Whooo Hoooo. It's been a busy time for the fat kid. Georgia is home - 
not quite dry ... but nearly so. She is (finally) officially disabled 
and getting the SSDI payments and medical card that goes with that - 
which will go a long way toward easing the financial burdens of a 
catastrophic deal like a stroke. 

According to her - she is doing fine. And her docs say that she is 
making extraordinary progress. But, my eyeballs tell me that she isn't 
doing as fine as she thinks she is. There is some obvious weakness on 
the right side, which rehab is helping. And her mind isn't as sharp as 
it used to was. Mostly on short term memory and recall of common words. 
Which is about normal for the kind of stroke that Georgia suffered. I 
see my friend Tom getting so frustrated when he cannot recall a word 
that he can remember using before. So, I am somewhat prepared for when I 
see G struggling with the same thing. And I sort of prepared her for 
knowing what to expect.

My sister, she is a strong woman. And she is dealing with this better 
than I probably would. Oh, and she sends her thanks for all the prayers 
and good thoughts and concern of all you who petitioned higher powers on 
her behalf.

The elections are finally over. I got involved in getting a third 
political party established in Illinois. And it pretty well consumed my 
free time for a while. So next election the Green Party will not have to 
jump through all the hoops and climb over the roadblocks that the two 
major parties place in the way of new challengers to their sinecures.

The benchmark to establish a political party as a real player is getting 
5% of the votes cast for the top statewide office in an election. We 
grabbed about 11% - or more than twice the requirement. I am not sure if 
the Greens got that many because of the message or because voters, 
disgusted with both the Repug and Democrap candidates voted for Rich 
Whitney as a "none of the above" protest. Whatever - we'll take it.

My little Toyota truck spit a motor - and is in the shop for a heart 
transplant. Meanwhile I am reduced to a Hyundai Excel - a motorised 
roller skate. Sheesh. But, it gets better mileage than my motorsickle. 
And is certainly warmer to drive.

Meanwhile - back to real world activities. Or as close as this bunch 
gets ....

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: (Belarus) Mienski Honey Cake
 Categories: Russian, Cakes
      Yield: 12 Servings
 
           1 KG CAKE
      2 c  Flour
    1/2 c  Sugar
    120 g  Honey
      5 tb Butter
      5    Eggs
      1 ts Vinegar essence
           Cinnamon
           Vanilla
           Salt
 
  Mix the eggs, honey, butter, sugar, salt and beat until smooth. Add
  essence of vinegar, vanilla, cinnamon and, stirring in the wheat flour
  gradually, knead into a dough of homogeneous consistency. Turn into
  cake tins or into a baking pan and bake in oven at 200 to 220 C.
  Cool the ready cake, remove from the cake tins and dust with castor
  sugar.
