======================
Hi Ruth,

-> parents always got the big old station wagons. Since child saftey laws
-> were more lax then, they would usually pop one or two of us in the tail
-> end with the luggage to relieve the back seat crowding. On camping

 RH> My sister and I rode in that compartment all the way to New Jersey and
 RH> back several times a year, to visit grandparents. My mother would put
 RH> pillows and blankets back there and we kids would at least attempt
 RH> (sorta) to sleep and stay out of our parents' hair.

My parents never put pillows or blankets in for our trips. Most of the
trips to New Jersey were only 3-4 hours, longer trips we could sleep
either sitting up or w/ our heads on another's lap (how "sweet"!).

-> trips tho, it was bad as that part was all full of gear. They would
-> have one kid in the front seat middle and the rest in the back seat.

 RH> We went camping precisely once - we weren't dumb enough to try that
 RH> again afterward!

It was the only way we could afford vacations. Dad had been in Boy
Scouts (and still is), Mom in Girl Scouts as kids and all of us were in
Scouting so we had an idea of what to do. The first 3 years our tents
had no floors--then we hit a gulley-washer of a rainstorm the last night
out the 3rd year. Before we went out again, the tents were upgraded to
ones with floors.

-> RH> ...or you find a college with metalsmithing classes.
 RH> ->
-> I suspect SCAD (Savvanah College of Art & Design) would fulfil that
-> hole. I might look into taking some classes with them while we're here,

 RH> I've thought about it; I'm not into cookie cutter jewelry.

No, mine would be different.

-> pantry. Remembered to grab balsamic vinegar but forgot white and
-> cider--thought I had them already. Got to drive a cart again. (G)

 RH> No Peapod in your area either? No fair! With peapod, if you're not
 RH> using coupons, you order the groceries on line and they deliver them

Not that I know of. Besides, I used close to $10. in coupons on
Saturday--ones clipped since we got here.

->  RH> Unidentified half-Finished Objects?

-> Basically, yes.

 RH> I figured you didn't have any little green men in there (just men in
 RH> green everywhere!) so it had to be something else.

And now Steve has my machines installed.........

-> You would be suprised at how steady it makes you. Plus, you get all
-> sorts of folks holding doors, etc like the young lady that helped me
-> today (she was about 10 years old).

 RH> I'm still usually the one doing the helping. It's no so much that I
 RH> get unsteady as that things like hitting the gas pedal and climbing
 RH> stairs can get interesting. My balance isn't any worse than it ever
 RH> was....which
 RH> isn't saying much.

Mine used to be pretty good but time has taken its toll.

-> RH> The stuff with the "sauce" on it would give him catfits.

-> What's Ian's favorite word, Bleurgh?

 RH> Bingo! The perfect one-word review for the stuff!

Perzacly! And, since he's back with us, I knew he would understand.

-> I'd like one but space constraints don't allow it.

 RH> Hmm - in a house bigger than this one? Does it have a basement?

No basement & the kitchen is quite small. I suspect when I get one,
it'll go into either the dining or family room. I've got to get rid of
a lot of boxes before that happens tho.

-> RH> She's forever crawling on top of the computer when I'm working.

-> Crazy critters! Our new church has a big old fluffly cat that has to
-> get some attention from me every time we're over there. The only name
-> we know for her is "Church Cat"--hey, it works! She knows who loves to
-> pet her too. I was also giving our neighbor's dogs some attention last
-> night.

 RH> Cats know the local suckers. We can't have a church cat due to
 RH> allergy problems, but given the size of the mouse population we ought
 RH> to get one anyway!

This is an outdoor cat--a nice fluffy one! She got more attention from
us last night. (G)

-> RH> The places, where as the joke goes, we po' - too broke to afford
 RH> the
->  RH> extra 'o' and 'r'!

-> Or "too poor to pay attention" is one I've heard a lot.

 RH> I haven't heard that one recently. It fits the area down there.

Remember, I lived in this general area before.

-> OK. I've got my basics set in the sewing room; now to unpack the
-> machines and get to work!

 RH> You didn't sneakernet any of them? I'm surprised!

No, Steve bought me a little Janome machine tho while we were in guest
housing. It's now boxed and ready to send to younger daughter. Next
time we move, one is coming with me--probably the Brother since we got
it for "carry along" to classes, etc.

Catch you later,
