All my hunting buddies fell in to a similar category. For me the end came 
because Anne simply won't eat wild game, or seafood. She simply does not 
like the flavours (I love em). She has no problem with me cooking and eating 
game but she won't partake. We used to have a Big Freezer...and one year I 
bagged a big (about 700lb pre dressed) Roosevelt elk on the Olympic 
Penninsula...Do you know how much MEAT that is? Took me forever to eat all 
of it (and yes I did give some away) and by the time I finally finished it I
just 
gave up. I was raised to shoot and hunt for the food...not just for the 
sport. "If you shoot it, you better eat it" my father would say...and when he 
caught me "practicing" on meadowlarks with my old single shot 410 
shotgun...guess what? Yep, I cooked and ate meadowlark for dinner. So since 
Anne wasn't going to eat what I brought in...it made little sense to keep 
doing it....so I just quit. Most of my hunting buddies were college friends and

they have all moved on with careers all over so there's no real network for me 
to get "gifts" from them anymore either. So, like you, I do without.
