You surprise me, Dale.  Haven't you seen those TV documentaries about how
Yellowknife is supplied every winter by huge convoys of trucks, that get to
YK by traveling over the justly famous ice road?

YK actually has a negative inventory of ice.  They use so much ice to build
that long cold road that they have to import ice from Alaskan glaciers. 
This is a huge drain on the economy of Canada.  Lately Canada has been
balancing the trade picture by exporting cheap Ontario wine to the New York
State Finger Lakes Region for re-bottling and re-labeling as NYS wine.

I understand that local YK Realtors are mounting a capital drive to
underwrite the purchase of Australian ice makers.  In the long run that may
solve the problem, but the Australians are demanding that Canada export
cheap Ontario wines to Australia.  International wine experts assume the
wine is to be blended to shore up the failing quality of Oz Shiraz
wines[the falling quality is tied to overproduction].

New York State is making every attempt to have the US place restrictive
taxes on imported Oz hoggets to counteract Australian efforts to hijack the
cheaper Ontario wines.   

The latest dog sleds out of YK contained rambling messages from a realtor,
identified only as "JW", who refuses to join the Ice Junta.  His message to
ice construction experts is basically "Go North, young man," along with
pointed references to newly available ice-free land in YK.   JW's Northern
theory is heavily discounted because the only ice experts further north are
American scientists.  They understandably refuse to comment on the
availability and strength of northern ice, calling it a National Security
issue.

France is remaining aloof, making vague comments about Quebec wines being
second only to French wines.   England's Prime Minister has announced that
British Commandos are at this moment embarking at Toronto to protect the
Ontario Wineries from terrorist activities, although he stresses none are
expected.   

President George Bush has indicated that when it comes to wine he is
partial to Texas Lone Star.
