They can be, and very often are.  But, you can pick and choose, not only
from the menu at the place but also the place you choose to go to.  We
stopped at a Sonny's on our way back from Florida last week; it was
packed with local folks wanting something other than turkey by Saturday
night.  I had a pulled pork sandwich with very little fat on it (a
couple of good sized chunks of pork tho) and Steve had a very lean
smoked turkey sandwich.

The old south has a reputation for lots of fried food or food cooked
with a lot of grease.  The newer south is breaking away from that to
some extent to be more health concious.  Of course you'll have the good
ole boys (and girls) that were raised on the old style of cooking and
eating & will never change but you will also see more places catering to
a way of eating that is just as good but less fatty.

Not us.  There's a visitor's center at the bottom and we had to hunt for
parking.  This was a Saturday morning, beautiful day in mid November.

And they still can.  But now those that are fitter can make the hike to
the top without the need of a machete.  My foot was hurting (I think I'd
broken it a few weeks before but didn't know it at the time.) but I made
the hike up and back without strain on the lungs.

Looks good; I wonder if I could sub sesame oil for part or all of the
salad oil if I didn't have the seeds.  I know I've got the oil on hand
but not sure about the seeds.
