Hi Carol,

CS> I prefer top stairs if there is gonna be a level above. I'd rather
CS> carry groceries up than listen to folks stomp around on my ceiling.

RH> Same here but in this case, I was referring to our house being 2 stori
RH> and me still dealing with the bum foot.

CS> Figured so, I should have been more clear.

Christmas fog! (G)

CS> I was wondering how you foot was. I hurt my ankle (mild sprain I
CS> thought) but it's still bothering me.

RH> Get it checked out if it's still giving you trouble; it may be more th

CS> It's now only notable (mildly) when sitting in my favorite postion
CS> which is 'indian style' at the computer. It's not troubling me at all
 CS> in any other way.

OTOH, I was on my feet shopping a bit today and feeling it now. Got new
chairs for our computer desks so I'm sitting prety good. (G)

CS> I stood watch last night for 4 hours and no problems with 4 hours
CS> straight on a steel deck other than I was freezing my ass off (hope
CS> Dale will not mind that ;-). It was windchill about 15F, actual temp
CS> just about 35F they say but that meant sleet vice snow. Oh joy.

CS> What really sucks (sorry Dale) is I write the watchbill and I had to
CS> do it to me again on 2JAN to balance things. Ship section leader
CS> doesnt normally stanbd watch but is 'on' 24 hours and we normally dont
CS> get but 3 hours sleep that day and are flying all around the ship with

Could be worse--could be longer with worse weather. No quilts to warap
up in either. (G)

CS> sleep the rest of the day. Of the 6 section leaders and 6 assistant
CS> section leaders, me and my 'buddy assistant' are the only ones who
CS> always take a turn before anyone else has 2 watches. Needless to say,
CS> we also have the only section that will go all out for us when we ask
CS> them and they keep us out of trouble. (The senior officers are
CS> fighting on who gets to rotate regular with my section). Got a big
CS> GRIN from one today who got us and said, really smoothe so I gotta
CS> wonder what they others are like?

Sounds like you'll be missed. Last June our company had a picnic with a
pie in the face auction so the troops got a chance to "pie" the CO, XO,
1st Sgt and platoon leaders. Steve was trying to get them to go over
$100 for a chance to pie him but as one troop said to me, "it's hard to
pie somebody that's so well liked/respected in the unit". He did get
over $100 raised tho. What was funnier was the XO's wife got the top
bid to do her husband--then asked "honey, can I borrow the money from
you?" to the amusement of all within earshot.

CS> Ohh. No food words. Um, I didnt get to eat but I keep granola bars
CS> and stuff like that for duty days. The cherry ones are survival food.
CS> I also found a leftover 'slimfast' can and that made 'dinner' at 1am.

Beats a growling stomach, even at that hour.

RH> But you don't want problems in the future. Our kitchen is small enoug
RH> that very often I'll "hang" my cane somewhere and get around without i
RH> (I can actually cover a lot of area by just turning around and taking
RH> step or two; should see it when Steve and I are both working on our ow

CS> You would have liked my Hawaii kitchen. Didnt have to walk at all <g>

This one isn't much bigger. I think we've had 2 smaller kitchens--the
one in Monterey (Pacific Grove) when Steve was in language school and
the one in San Angelo, TX where he had some follow on training. For
senior NCO housing, the kitchens are really bad.

CS> (Uhoh. It's 7pm. Open a gift time). The sorta dollhouse I got her

Sounds nice and better than nothing.

CS> 26th as that Friday was 'duty section only' so she didnt come to work
 CS> at all.

RH> Steve's unit is doing the day on/day off thing but he usually is home

CS> We are on thsat same sort of schedule. I'm off til 2JAN here. I'm
CS> glad though I came in and we fixed that VFH set when we did. It was
CS> just before it got cold. It would *not* be fun to do it right now

No fun at all. BTW, remember last year we were talking about quilted
jackets?
