And today was a real mess.  It *rained* at 24F at 4:15 am.  Heavy.  Black ice
everywhere, cars flipped over and the whole mess.  Only rained in VB area so
the main city west and north of us were not hampered as bad.

Oh yes.  Black Ice 1/3 inch thick on the roads.  Made a real mess.  Folks are
really pissed off that the VB schools didnt hold class til the busses could
run safely and there's a hue and cry now over safety.  They havent even
finished counting the accidents or clearing them all and it's 11am.  I have
not heard yet of any school buss accidents which is a miracle.

Don checked Charlotte's school and all was to start as scheduled but they
said most of the buses would be late.  Apparently the drivers just refused
to do more than 'slow and safest and damn the schedule'.  I passed school
buses still heading in at 9am.  (I got cancelled out of a school so was
coming back home).

Humm, depending on which 'town' you meant that could be 30 miles or more.

Yeah, some are good but honestly most of us here are pretty saavy on such. 
Even on diets we do not have to use.  I'm even a reasonable hand at low
protein diets for kidney patients.

Yeah but not much of that near us.  Thats inland fishing.

BTW, the river is frozen except in the middle.  Saw a guy walking gently out
to a boat on the way home.  Not a deep spot (guessing 2ft there) but it held
him up.  Unusual cold snap in progress but the news says it's easing up. 
Might hit 40F inland of us and is 34F here just now by my window thermometer.
9C in the garage (we have a heater there).
