Hi Ruth!

>> I think I hear my daughter say that often enough now <grin>.. she's
>> got 3 boys, 12, 4, and 20mos. The 4 yr. will turn 5 in March, but
>> she's had her hands full with the three of them :) The baby's
>> birthday is coming in April.. hmm.. guess that will be 'terrible twos'

> I kid Deborah she started at 18 months and is still in them at times.

haha :)

> The fun she has with her nephew............

I bet :)

>> <grin> he's such a sweety though, I can't imagine that really :)

> But you don't have him 24/7/365.

Umm.. "thank goodness"? <laugh>.. Yep, I admit it, I couldn't take it.. but
you know how that goes.. the kids are "perfect" when they come here to stay..
no trouble at all .. and then they take it all out on their mom and dad when
they get home :)

>> Exactly..From what I see, he kicks them off all the time :)

> Most kids do at that age. Do you order stuff from Nancy's Notions?

No, I do get some online supplies from allthreads.com, and sometimes from
robison-anton though I've got a wall full of various coats and clark embroidery
thread right now .. there was a big sale <grin> I'm trying to remember the name
of the site where I found the pattern-designing curved ruler.. they had so many
neat toys- Hope I book marked it :)

>> I would love to see any kind of craftsman's shop overseas <smile>..
>> maybe someday <grin>

> You would enjoy Hesian Park; it's a 15th-16th century recreation town
> near Frankfurt. It has all sorts of craftspeople of the era displaying
> their trades and even lets you (mostly kids) try some for themselves.
> Not the cooking tho but candle dipping and others.

That's neat :)

>> > I don't do that much on line; it's more fun to explore things like
>> that > "for real".

>> Know what you mean, it IS. :)

> For sure! We wander thru grocery stores in new areas just to see what
> they have new to us.

Same here.. recently one of the stores in the area re-vamped their whole shop
in Binghamton, and you could finally SEE some of the cool stuff they had :) My
favorite though is the Asian store there.. you can find just about anything you
might possibly want there.

>> > Didn't anybody cook at home? (G)

>> I guess not :) I'll have to check and see if that's still true in
>> Louisville.. now I'm curious :)

> Do you still have connections in the area?

Yes, one of the fellows who was in my net in Louisville has just recently
returned to fidonet.. was great to talk to him again :)

>> spring/summer > 2006 so we've got to make sure the counter tops stay
>> looking decent.
>> > They're laminate so cutting boards are a must. And the kitchen is

>> Right, understand why the cutting boards are important.

> But not everybody uses them. We just want to take better care of the
> place than is required.

That's always a good idea. Even with my own "stuff", I'd rather take care of
it than have it fall into disrepair or start to look all beat up... years ago
we sold our first house and moved into the upstairs of my mom's house.. we were
trying our hand at our own software company, and my parents agreed to rent the
upstairs to us.. it was great, but the kitchen she had upstairs was sadly
lacking cabinet and counter space.. so that's when I bought the cabinets and
center-island (movable with casters) that have the butcher-block counters.. We
never installed them wherever we lived, just kept moving them along with us
because they were so handy :) When we first ripped out the kitchen in this
place, those cabinets were used to make up the first "large" central island
here.. later we bought all new cabinets to do it with.

>>> maybe > we can arrainge a get together.

>>> That would be great :)

>> > Have to see what comes up in the next few months.

>> Sure - I understand. Hope you're feeling ok, as well.

> Doing better now; had a blood test today (will be weekly) just to keep
> tabs on things.

Makes sense. My son had to have radiation treatments.. probably as bad
"stomach-wise" as chemo though I don't really know. It was a little rough at
times, but he's doing great now and no signs of cancer.

>>> JUST caught that typo haha.. I must have been wearing my contacts too

>> > Thought you would enjoy it once you caught it.

>> Talk about brain-dead haha :)

> Are you blonde as well? (G)

Not naturally haha.. this month though my hair is it's normal color, kinda
reddish brown.. When I get bored I play with the colors :) What's funny is my
brother, #4 kid in the family, is blond as can be.. when he was little, he had
this mop of long curls that the rest of us would have killed for :) :)

====Roast Sausage Grill====
8 Italian sweet sausage links, about 1 1/2 pounds separated 4 large potatoes,
scrubbed
1 large onion, quartered
1 large green pepper, sliced into sections 1 large fresh tomato, quartered
twice 1/2 pound mushrooms, sliced thick
2 tablespoons butter
garlic-salt
pepper
oregano
basil
olive oil

Scrub potatoes. Cut potatoes in half lengthwise. With cut side down, slice
each half into 4 or 6 slices lenthwise, cutting at an angle. Cut slices in
half to make the slices about 2"-2 1/2" long. Heat butter in skillet, and
brown mushroom slices lightly. Combine all vegtables, the mushrooms and
sausage links in 13x9" roasting pan alternating the vegetables and the
sausages. Sprinkle the vegetables and sausages generously with the spices.
Drizzle olive oil lightly over all, and toss the vegetables and sausage links
making sure that the potatoes are well covered with olive oil and spices. Bake
at 325 for 1 hour 15 minutes, or until sausage is cooked and potatoes are
tender and browned.
=======

Take care,
Janis
