Hi Ruth!

>> It sounds like this one is probably about the same size as the one you

Yes, this one is very much like the one you mentioned :) I don't think they do
the buffet cart, but they do have deli-type counter where hot food can be
gotten.

No kidding :)

Yes, my mom is not in great shape right now either. I've been trying to get
her to move in with us here - I cook so much, her being here wouldn't even be
noticiable food-wise. We can get her to doctors, etc. no problem.. but she's
not anxious to come back to NY and deal with the cold. She's in Florida now,
in an assisted-living place that's costing her a fortune.. My 2nd oldest sister
started talking about putting Mom in a nursing home, and I said, no way..
she'll come here first before I see that :( Granted sometimes people have no
choice, but when Ron and I saw what his parents went through in one, we both
agreed it was not the way to go...

>> Know what you mean :) Sometimes I buy a ton of fabric because I

Lol true :)

I use a pattern from kwiksew.. I love their patterns <g>. This is the one I
use, they've got a few others: http://www.kwiksew.com/Catalog/c at_detail.c
fm?pid=3193 - A friend I was working with ages ago pointed me to them.. she
also had a pfaff machine, btw <g>.

> Bummer! I'd just as soon go to a store.

Yeah, but if it's too cold, it's nice and cozy doing it online :)

>> I'll have to ask Mom.. Grandma made all of her children's clothes with
>> it, so I'd expect that treadle machine was from a bit earlier.

Sure, I can understand that :) Making kids clothes is really such fun.

>> was > eyeing a Fat Chef's fabric a few years ago but decided against

>> yes, that would have been really cute :)

> She's changed kitchens since; now it could use something like that to

Yes, that would be good to brighten it up.. My kitchen can be too dark, as
well. We've got this one big window in the kitchen over the sink.. it's one of
those that looks like it might have been a bay window once (that would have
been nice, darnit <grin>). Anyway, right now I've got some chenille drapes I
made on the window, just to keep the cold out.. that window leaks so much cold
air all around it :( The trouble is it's such a dark fabric (it's fabric I
bought to re-cover my dining room table's chairs). But the drapes do keep the
draft down :)

>> Ah.. for my wedding.. I did make my mom's Mother-of-the-Bride dress..
>> She _bought_ my wedding gown (thank goodness <laugh>). For my

"last century" would be accurate :)

Take care,
Janis
