Saving 40% isn't something to sneer about in this economy,
if you're planning to live long enough to use the equivalent
of more than one box of Lite Salt, which I am.

We know with some certainty that IF this person had in fact eaten
a substantial quantity of chiles before, which he appears to have
done, what did not cause the allergic reaction.

  My main bitch was the way that the "popular" (tabloid) press

Welcome to the real world.

Anyhow, an perusal of these objectionable articles yields the
info that 1. it was the victim's mother who blamed the chiles
by saying that it couldn't have been anything else; and 2. he
ate them with Dolmio sauce, whatever that is (turns out to be
a brand of ready-made sauces of the Di Giorno or Ragu ilk). I
like to think that an angry deity struck him down for having
used commercial spaghetti sauce, but the press apparently is
hoping for something else altogether. Though several weeks later
there isn't a peep, so I figure the inquest didn't implicate
anything.

Vegetable Lasagna
cat: main, vegetarian, low-carb, lowfat, m'm m'm bad
servings: 6

3 to 4 md zucchini, about 9" long
- sliced lengthwise and ends removed
10 oz pk frozen chopped spinach - cooked according to
- package directions and drained
1 c edamame soybeans, cooked and shelled
26 oz jar prepared marinara sauce or spaghetti sauce
1 c non-fat cottage cheese
1 ts oregano
1 c non-fat mozzarella cheese, grated
1/4 c non-fat Parmesan cheese, grated

In a bowl, combine cooked chopped spinach, spaghetti sauce,
oregano, and edamame and set aside. In a microwave safe
dish, place zucchini slices with 1 Tb water. Cover with
waxed paper and microwave on high for 6-8 min, rearranging
after half the time. Cook until fork tender. Drain liquid.
Place zucchini on paper towels to remove excess moisture.
In a 9 x 9" microwave safe dish, place half of zucchini
slices. Add half of cottage cheese and half of mozzarella
cheese. Add half of spaghetti sauce. Repeat layers. Top
with Parmesan. Reduce microwave power to 50% (medium).
Microwave for 20-25 min or until zucchini is tender and
mixture is hot in center. Let stand 5 min before serving.
