 Sorry I am so slow in replying. Things got busy
 around here while I was trying to catch up with
 the Christmas/New Year backlog, and I am having
 computer problems that mostly seem to affect my
 usage of Internet-related stuff. Fortunately, BlueWave
 is not affected. My apologies to all.

 I have no good holiday stories for you guys. I went
 to visit my Mom, who had thrown her back out a week
 or so earlier, so I was catching up with some chores
 for her, like vacuuming, watering plants, taking out
 trash and recycling, and of course some of the cooking,
 but we kept it simple and easy. I don't like to cook
 in her kitchen, as we stock different stuff, and I
 don't want to make anything I learned from her,
 because she takes anything I might have innovated
 on her example as a criticism of the way she cooked
 for us in our youths! Also, she doesn't like a
 lot of the things I do now. Apparently dislikes rice,
 curry-like flavors, "too much" hot-pepper spicing, etc.
 She often sent me out for fast-food stuff like
 Popeye's chicken, or wanted me to heat a frozen pizza
 for us. OK, it's her house, I do what Mom says. We
 did manage to get to Atlanta to visit my brother's
 family for Christmas, with little mishap and the kids
 didn't infect us with anything this year. My Christmas
 dinner was OK, made by my SIL who won't let Mom or
 me help in her kitchen, but she's sort of disorganized.
 After I'd breakfasted on a bagel, there was no
 lunch, and for all the "cooking" she seemed to be doing,
 (seemed to be some fancy desserts I never actually saw
 or tasted), Christmas dinner of a ham, fried sweet
 potato strips, Stove-top stuffing (my brother fixed),
 Pillsbury rolls of some sort and the infamous Green
 Bean Casserole didn't get onto the table till after
 10 PM. I thought I was going to starve to death! I
 presume her family knows to forage for leftovers in
 situations like this, but Mom and I didn't feel welcome
 to rummage for stuff. Oh, well, Sally did it to us again.
 I must say, the fried sweet potato strips were nice, a
 better variant on those than the casseroled ones with
 marshmallows. By the time I actually could eat, I chowed
 down, and had no room for whatever "plum pudding" she
 spent all day making, and no one else was ready for
 dessert that late, either.

 New Year's back at Mom's was low key as she was still
 confined to her recliner with the bad back. We did split
 a bottle of "Barefoot Bubbly" she'd gotten as a
 "bargain".
