My friend Bill has numerous friends with more money than sense,
and he's the beneficiary of both on occasion. He teaches music
appreciation courses for rich old persons as well as conducting
groups made up of rich amateurs. One of these wealth-ridden
clients donated a freezerful of Omaha stuff, which Bill invited
me to make something palatable out of.

I found the answer: it's something called virtual scrolling, and
it's one of the worse ideas I've encountered, though for someone
with multiple handicaps it might be almost as useful as annoying.

I had to order this box special with XP: next time, if Windows 7
is as horrid as its several immediate predecessors, someone will
have to give me tutorial on DOS emulators for Linux.

There are various mysteries that remain, such as how to disable
Caps Lock without levering off the key (which I will probably end
up doing); what's the Alt Gr key; and what's the key next to it
that has a picture of a text page with an arrow.

There's also a key with a script e on it and a bank of keys two
of which I've figured out, the wireless and Bluetooth keys; three
others, one with a Saturn on it; one with an envelope (presumably
automatically invokes e-mail); and one that has a capital P.

I swear, what happened to the keyboards of old, which had slightly
bigger keys but fewer of 'em?

Anyhow, it's an Acer 6292, and I can't find an iGo tip for it,
either. Luckily, the battery life is over 3:30, so I can fly around
considerably before the thing runs out of juice.

Were these a buck a jar? I saw them at the store at a price so
extortionate that even I wasn't tempted even by the blue ones.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.00

      Title: Cocolat Walnut Torte
 Categories: Chocolate, Cakes
      Yield: 12 servings

      8 oz Ghirardelli Bittersweet
           -Chocolate
    3/4 c  Butter
      4    Eggs, separated
    3/4 c  Sugar, divided
      1 ts Vanilla
    1/4 c  Unsifted flour
    2/3 c  Walnuts, ground
      1 pn Cream of tartar

  Servings: 12

  DIRECTIONS: In heavy saucepan on low heat, melt broken chocolate with
  butter, stirring constantly until smooth; set aside. Beat egg yolks
  for 1 to 2 minutes, gradually adding 1/2 cup sugar and vanilla. Beat
  in chocolate mixture. Fold in flour and nuts. Beat egg whites with
  cream of tartar until foamy. Gradually add remaining 1/4 cup sugar,
  beating until stiff peaks form. Blend a fourth of the egg whites into
  the chocolate mixture; fold in remaining egg whites. Pour into 9"
  springform pan lined with parchment paper. Bake at 375 F for 30 to 35
  minutes or until sides start to separate from pan but center is still
  moist. Cool on rack. Remove torte from pan. Frost with Cocolat Rum
  Glaze*.
