Hi Janis,

>> I had my first when I was 21 - My daughter came around 2 1/2 years
>> later. But I agree with you... I'm glad I did have them when I was

JK> > We had the energy to run after them then. (G)

JK> Yes, indeed :) I hear my oldest sister complaining about her
 JK> teenagers now (she's 60) and boy, I couldn't even imagine that :)

I know; my one sister's boys are 12 1/2 years apart. She was 42 when
the 2nd was born, he's now 10. He had what Steve and I called "typical
2nd child syndrome"--getting into things that #1 never even dreamed
could be done--and it like to have driven her crazy the first few years.
We had it with our two; Deborah got into a lot more "mischief" than
Rachel did.

>> to the house - So we ordered some veggie pizza :) Everybody was happy
>> with that.. even the little guy :) He especially like eating all the
>> broccolli off it <g>

JK> > He's be a good one for some of these Hidden Valley Ranch commercials
JK> > I've seen. Maybe he needs to visit the White House too; I understand
JK> GW > takes after his dad in not liking broccoli.

 JK> Lol :)

They don't know what they're missing. (G)

JK> > Far enough away that they're not on your doorstep, close enough to
 JK> visit > easily.

JK> Yes, it works well. They really needed to move for work opportunities
 JK> and such.

Very understandable. We had the opportunity to be assigned to Berlin
after 3 years in Frankfurt so we took the assignment. Made it harder
for the grandparents but we all lived thru it. Our next duty station was
at Fort Devens, MA (for 6 months) but it was a lot closer to family;
it's actually been the closest we've been assigned over the years.

 JK> paid > for.  I did a mix of shopping for things at the PX and in town;
JK> putting > up the pyramid this year, I noticed the box still had a
JK> price tag on of > DM 39.95 or about $25 at the exchange rate at the
JK> time. It was a bit of > a splurge but I am glad I got it.

 JK> That's neat!

And brings back the memories of Germany every year.

JK> really > wanted to except for some of the performances.

JK> I would have loved to hear some of the groups that were playing that
JK> weekend.. I'd seen a few of them in other concerts in NYC, but this
JK> one sounded like the concert to end all concerts.. and it was <grin>

Yes, it was. Did you ever see the movie? I never got to any concerts but
have enjoyed some of the music over the years. A lot of it is so mellow
compared to what passes for music with that age goup now.

>> I think it's 36 for us :) We are so bad with remembering our
>> anniversary :) I don't think we've remembered it once in all these

 JK> > We can't forget; it's engraved in our rings. (G)

 JK> No fair :) :) But a nice way to remember :)

Yes, I had to have it redone a few years ago whe nmy ring was resized.
It had been cut off at one pont, then resized too big. I finally had it
fixed; now it's only a half size larger than when I first got it (4.5 to
5). The intersting thing about the new engraving--the old one read
"Steve to Ruth 9-20-75 F Cor. 13:13" but the person that did the new
said there wasn't enough room for the names, even tho the ring was
slightly bigger. We modified it to read "S (heart) R, the date, 1 Cor.
13:13"

>> match, and the actual ceremony didn't mean that much to us :) Ron's

JK> > We used an old Church of England ceremony with a few of our own
JK> > additions. For the length of time we knew each other after we met
JK> > work, etc), never really dated but knew we were right for each

JK> It's really neat when you know it and it just clicks :) We had the
JK> wedding at my mom's house outside in the flower garden area... just
JK> what I needed for all my allergies :)

Exactly what you needed. We had ours in the church I grew up in and I
had all sorts of fall flowers in my bouquet.

>> mother used to send us "happy anniversary" cards and that's how we'd
>> know, OOPS we missed it again <laugh>.

JK> > We get them from Steve's mom--usually just before our anniversary.
 JK> (G)

JK> yes, that's when Ron's mom would send the card :)

It's the thought that counts.

Catch you later,
