Hi Michael,

ML> Small pieces of steak? Non capisc'.
RH> I'm talking about the little kebab size pieces. Given a choice of a
RH> fair sized piece of meat for one or cutting it up to serve several, the
RH> latter is where I would use pepper, onion, garlic and mushroom. If I
RH> were having the meat for me alone, just some seasoning is enough.

ML> Ah. For me, also, just having the meat alone would be the
ML> most likely course; kebabs are for echo picnics.

And you know we have gone very low meat to semi vegitarian at times.
BTW, what did you have in the spiedie marinade besides rosemary? I'm
going to roast a leg of lamb tomorrow but want to do spiedies some time.
I'm going to use a simple garlic/cheese/parsley recipe Janis posted
about 6 months ago for the lamb.

ML> I've gone from abbatoirs to steak dinners, no problem. Perhaps
ML> it is an advantage to have a short attention span!
 RH> ADD? (G)

ML> If I were in elementary school today, I'd probably be
ML> diagnosed as such. That said, in some endeavors some of
ML> the characteristics have even proven to be beneficial,
ML> not only tolerable. Though practicing, for example, can
 ML> be a trial, I was always a lightning-fast reader, at
ML> least until the brain insult. But now I'm better at
ML> practicing. You give a few, take a few.

I'd probably be labeled with a slight case of it as well. I never liked
doing things over and over and over (like music lessons would have
been). I like to move on to other, more interesting things. Like you,
I've always been a fast reader. But, I don't spend hours upon hours
reading; I'll pop up every so often to do other things. Part of the
enjoyment I get from sewing is that I don't do the same thing all the
time. As the project develops, I'll do things like putting on a pocket,
collar, cuffs onto sleeves and then sleeves not the garment, etc.
Quilting can be a bit more repetitive tho. Cooking probably holds my
interest because I can move on to a different step before getting (too)
bored with a segment.

 ML> Chicken liver for one
RH> So how often do you make it?

ML> Chicken liver isn't such a bargain as it once was,
ML> so not that often these days. Usually, I just fry up
ML> the liver and giblets that come in the paper packet
ML> in a chicken; do it pretty much the same way but omit
 ML> the paprika.

If I get a packet of giblets in a chicken, I'll usually separate them
out. Some get cooked quickly, others get held for stock, soup or
whatever. Steve usually gets the liver & gizzards cooked for him. (G)

 ML> Mandalay liver curry
 ML> cat: main
 ML> serves: 4

Somehow this doesn't quite appeal to me. We checked out a newish Indian
place near us Friday night; the local food critic had said it was good.
I had a lamb masala over jasmine rice; Steve had the mixed grill, with
the rice on the side. The curry was available in mild, medium, hot or
extra hot so I went with the medium. It was good but a shade too hot to
really appreciate. Mixing it with the rice, I was able to adjust the
heat somewhat tho. The waiter brought out some sort of flat bread with
several toppings (a green sauce, really hot; a medium curry; and a sweet
tamarind) for us to sample while waiting for our meal. It filled us
enough that we brought left overs home for lunch on Saturday. It might
be a place we'll go back to before we leave here.

We'd wanted to go to OG but when we were supposed to be seated, we
didn't want to sit in the bar area. While the hostess looked for another
table, Steve thought he'd have me get off my feet so suggested I have a
seat in a chair just outside the bar area. We didn't know there was
something (probably water) on the chair. I got a wet seat & didn't want
to sit thru the meal with a wet bottom, reporting the problem to a guy
wearing a "hospitality" tag on our way out. He sort of shrugged as if
saying, "so, what's the big deal?". We walked on out; went home, I
changed and decided to try the Indian place.

Catch you later,
Ruth
