There are quite a few women in my life who have had a lump picked up on the
mammogram that they did not feel.  One lost a breast, yet swam (with a
prosthesis) in our pool for years, and I never remembered or noticed it when
she was here.  It was only when I was aware of breast cancer.

My 87 yr old mother in law lost both breasts this past spring and declined
reconstruction.  She beat ovarian cancer in 1999, and had been in remission
until now.

So despite all of the hype, the gals that I have known all have come through
this with their dignity and senses of humor.  I encourage all of my female
friends to go and GET that annual Mammygram.  Get them checked and take care of
yourself before it's too late!!  And when you open your browser, go to:

those who cannot afford them.  One woman that I know has been a recipient of a
free mammogram and it now much as ease knowing that she is cancer free.
