ml-> Fonseca Tawny Port
ml-> This Tawny was one of the few I've found that
ml-> is actually brown in color, as opposed to the murky off-ruby that
ml-> usually obtains. It was nuttier than the usual (lots of walnut) and
ml-> had some interesting spice notes as well as the expected dried and
ml-> candied fruits and menthol. I liked the stuff.

That's one of my favorite affordable Porto.

But I just got a bottle of Fonsica Porto Late Bottled Unfiltered 2003, and
one for Dave.   I opened mine a few days before Xmas, so I would know if it
was nice enough for Dave.  It was very nice, having what I call a nicely
kinda-sweet, dry finished, big taste.  So I re corked the bottle and put in
the China Cabinet where I keep my current Port.

Today I discovered I did just about everything wrong.

I decanter it today, a bit late, [g] but virtually no material was left in
the bottle.  It tasted good, just a little "stronger."   Tell me please
Michael, have I ruined this wine?

Should I refrigerate the decanter?  How long might it last that way? 
Should I guzzle it down NOW?   

Learning is usually fun, but once in a while it's painful.


ml-> I did some research and found that Commander's Palace offers a
ml-> version similar to what he described, so I made that.

Oh, the words "Commander's Palace" engenders two lovely memories of New
Orleans!   I wonder if it's still worthwhile to visit the corpse of New
Orleans.
