It's sort of the dividing line between the 
good stuff, and the "really" good stuff (grin).
Single malt prices have come down in the last
5 years or so, my glenmorangie used to be 
over $100 and now it's down around $60 or 
so. Here's an experiment for you; next time
you plan to have some good single malt, also
plan to have a really good quality dark chocolate
to enjoy with it. The chocolate and the scotch
really seem to enhance each other. I try to look
for chocolate that is 65% or higher.

I'm not the best "describer" either (grin) as I am 
more an enjoyer as well. Rum usually seems to 
(me at least) add highlights of toasty vanilla.

The first thing I tell folks is "it's still SCOTCH"!
If they don't like scotch, they more than likely
won't go crazy over the single malts. Dale is a
good example, he tried one of my single malts
when we had the last great crab Jacuzzi, and 
while I think he was intrigued by it, I think he'd
have traded the single malt for just about any
decent bourbon (which he does like).

I am not really much of a drinker, but when I'm
going to have a drink I'd at least prefer to have 
what I enjoy. I probably only have about a shot
or less of scotch every couple of weeks or so. 
Every now and then I'll go on a "binge" and have
a shot three or four days in a row, but that 
never really happens very often (grin). I think my
next bottle will be the maCallan 18. It will more
than likely last more than a year.
