It was our first road trip using the GPS.  Overall it worked fairly well
but there were times..............

Actually, I think Steve gets free updates.

For the size of the country, yes.  There wouldn't be room for even me to
ride shot gun for Steve if we had to carry paper information for the
whole country.

Yes, and it can avoid toll roads if told to do so.  Steve had set ours
for that last spring when we were on Hilton Head Island and forgot to
remove the setting before we started our trip in July.  He'd printed
Google maps that I was sort of following until one point where the GPS
said to take a certain direction.  I questioned the reasoning as it
would add another hour's drive time over what the print out indicated.
We pulled over & Steve cross checked, finding he'd still had it set to
avoid toll roads. He turned that off and we were routed the way Google
had sent us--paid about $1.60 in tolls that day, another $4.00 or so the
next.  The relatively small amount of tolls was well off set by the time
saved.

IOW, one that can very well be left out, as I generally do.
