=========================
Hi Hap,

-> When we went to Kauai, the place we ate breakfast at (Both days, as it
-> was so good the first, we went back the 2nd morning.) had coconut syrup
-> for their pancakes. That's also where we discovered tropical fruit
-> salsa. Got back to Oahu and looked in the Hawaiian foods section of the
-> Schofield commissary for coconut syrup. They had it, but it had HFCS in
-> it so we left it on the shelf.

 hn> Yeh, that's what we do as well! I see that HFCS
 hn> is now running commercials on TV telling how "good"
 hn> it is!

I saw a couple of those when I was out in Las Vegas last fall, haven't
seen any here. They haven't sold me. (G) One commercial I do remember
is with all these little kids dressed up as healthy fruits & vegetables,
then one little boy is HFCS. The gunk is just oozing out of him--looks
pure pitiful.

Yesterday Steve picked up a few things at the commissary for me,
including ginger snaps for the sauerbraten to be. He came home & told
me he had his choice for those between partially hydrogenated shortening
and preservatives so picked the former. It's getting harder & harder to
find good food.

-> hn> very often, but when we do she loves to smother
-> hn> her pancakes in the butter pecan syrup. We used to

-> I usually try to get a meal that doesn't have pancakes included. With
-> eggs and sides, it's way too much for me to eat. At the IHOP on Maui,
-> they let me split an order with Steve. He took the pancakes; I took the
-> eggs and sausage, with a side order of toast. It worked out well; I've
-> found if I have pancakes in a place like that, it feels like a solid
-> weight in my stomach the rest of the day. Usually we only go to places
-> like that if we're traveling. I'm not able to do my usual "run around
-> the house" for exercise so I try to go for something lighter.

 hn> We don't have em very often anymore either.
 hn> Mostly because of our low carb ways, but
 hn> every so often we go off the track for a meal!

Low carb wouldn't go over very well here; we like pasta & pizza too
much. (G) Steve is more of a pancake/waffle eater than I am; he was
brought up with those (and eggs) as breakfast foods. My mom used them
for lunch or Sunday night supper so it took me a while to adjust after
we got married. They're more of a week end breakfast now; most of the
time I'll go for eggs (egg, actually).

-> hn> have a pancake house here in tacoma (not an IHOP)
-> hn> that made about 30 different kinds of pancakes, none
-> hn> from mixes, and they were GREAT...but as happens in
-> hn> most cases, mom and pop got old...kids didn't care
-> hn> about the business as they'd all grown up gone to
-> hn> college and become Dr's and lawyers...so they sold
-> hn> the place and the property was buldozed and now
-> hn> it's a strip mall and a Jack in the box. We used to

-> On one of our trips back to Sierra Vista, we tried going to an old
-> favorite place for breakfast. It, too, was gone and we had to settle for
-> Denny's.

 hn> Sad isn't it?

Yes; I'd only gone there once but Steve went several times with church
work crews. You got a huge breakfast, even the egg dishes were mostly
stuffed omelette (and I mean, really stuffed) type. There was home made
jam on the tables to go with the biscuits (not out of a can) too.
Denny's just isn't the same.

-> hn> take Amanda there when she was very little...it
-> hn> was a special treat for all of us! Holy smokes
->  hn> batman...I'm turning into a GEEZER!!!! :-0

-> (G)

 hn> I'm coming to acceptance on it (Grin)

That helps. I realised today that Robert is now only a year younger than
Deborah was when we got to Germany on our assignment to Frankfurt.

-> hn> Hmmm, have not seen the
->  hn> Haffly's around, hope they
->  hn> are ok!

-> We are; our "point man" (boss node) had a batch stick in his system
-> last week. We were without Fido for a few days, then started with the
-> packets from Dale. Things are back to normal now but still getting the
-> packets for a it, just in case........

 hn> Glad that was all it was! See, you were missed!
 hn> On a side note, knowing you're a Mets fan. I got
 hn> to meet Tom Seaver today at a charity event at
 hn> the ballpark! What a nice guy! Also got to meet

Now THAT really takes me back. I was sitting in chemistry class when
the Mets won their first World Series. The teacher was one of the few
in our school that wouldn't let us watch the game on the cafeteria
television. The last out was made just before class (and school) got
out for the day.

 hn> the owner of the San Francisco Giants, and Boston
 hn> pitcher John Lester, Jamie Moyer (now a world series
 hn> ringholder) and a bunch of other Hi-rollers (grin)...

It sounds like you had a good time--baseball, of course you did. (G)

Catch you later,
