Hi Carol,

 > CS> cardboard holder ;-).

 > Re-roll if you need to but the make your own size bags are a good idea.
 > Last time we needed bag material, we got a narrow (8" wide) and a wide
 > (10"?, 12"?--not sure) roll. Both sizes are good for various things.

CS> I am guessing we are the 8 inch roll. It's not a big machine. We got
CS> small because has to fit in that limited usable counterspace. Te
CS> bigger units would have required I take the breadmaker and microwave
CS> off to fit them there.

I saw on TV now where there's a vertical machine. It stands upright but
you still need to lie the bag flat on a counter to seal it.

CS> Yeah. Well, after the pet food issues (Melamine too I think?) they
CS> kinda knew better nd that damaged their economy alot. Then this group
CS> decided to put it in children's milk....

You would have thought they learned from the pet food mess. Some people
will sink to really low levels to try & get an extra (dollar, yen, peso,
whatever) or two. But adulterating milk for children is an all time
low. (Rant mode off)

 > CS> Seems the China export hit is so high, it's affecting the economy

 CS> >
 > Did they export much to the US or was it mostly other Asian countries?

CS> Yes, huge candy recalls but not as bad as the peanut ones now.

As far as I know, we don't buy Chinese candy. Mexican candy took a big
hit a while back; don't know if they ever got that mess cleared up.

 > Steve would have to pay if he ate at a DFac.

CS> Generally not worth it if you also have to pay the surcharge.
CS> McDonalds is cheaper then by far. It's like 7$ + for lunch if they
 CS> surcharge.

I'm not sure if he'd have to pay the surcharge or not. I sort of think
so, based on what we've paid to eat at the DFac at Tripler & Winn.
There's a place not too far from us that does nothing but an AYCE
buffet, Southern style. We've gone a few Sundays after church but were
out last Thursday & swung by for lunch. Sundays it's $9.95 plus tax &
tip per person; M-F it's only $7.75 plus tax & tip. We gave the waitress
(she does the drinks & clears dirty dishes) a good tip but still ended
up paying not much more than we'd pay for a fast food meal, for much
better food. Sundays they ususally have fried okra; they had stewed
okra, onions and tomatoes on Thursday. I had a good helping over rice.

CS> About time. For us, never a convern again (yipiiee!!)

The lamb will be supper tonight. The freezer will be empty & washed out
by the end of the month. Should have this move and at least one more
before we settle down for good.

CS> Grin, fish poop like any other! Taint that bad.

Yes but ocean caught flounder is cleaner than farm (pond) raised fish,
especially if the pond is in some parts of Asia.

 > CS> Ohh hate me but still havent shopped.

 > We did a "hold us thru" trip on Saturday. This week will be the big

CS> I was gonna today but slept in late and didnt feel like it. Probably
CS> make the kid fish sticks (American type, snicker).

Don't think I've had any of them in years. (G)

 > Sounds OK to me. I had to stop a bit ago and take a call from Rachel.

CS> How's she doing with the kids?

Keeping quite busy. When Robert was going to pre school for the full
day, he'd usually go in with David, sometimes come home with him. It
made for a long day at school so they decided to put him in the half day
program this semester. It means Rachel has to take him & pick him up but
he's doing better for it. She is able to work out at a nearby gym (with
child care) or go shopping if she wants while he's in school. If not,
back home & get some work done until time to pick Robert up. After
lunch, he has a nap and then some tutoring at home. Rachel is cooking
healthier meals as they (she & David) decided it was time to lose some
weight and eat better. She called Monday & said they'd pigged out on
junk food while watching the Super Bowl & a movie but were going to get
back to better eating that day. Sarah is growing fast; she will be 4
months old on Saturday. Rachel is still total nursing but thinking of
starting a bit of cereal at night. She will talk with the doctor about
it next week; Sarah still likes to eat at least a couple of times per
night.

Our churh had a Souper Bowl Sunday. The elemetary school age girls put
out an appeal a couple of weeks ago to help replenish the church's food
pantry. Instead of the usual list of items that could be donated, they
asked just for soup--to be brought in on Super Bowl Sunday. Cute, and
effective. That's what part of our commissary trip was for, so we could
buy some soup.

Catch you later,
Ruth
