Hi Carol,

CS> Ya just gotta wonder on that one. Hit USA with candy too. That
CS> melamine was deliberate idiocy but the peanut scare of now is more
 CS> like just being dumb.

I just don't have words to describe what I think of folks who let the
peanut products go out, knowing they were contaminated. It's more than
dumb; outrageous is probably about as strong as I'll get in my choice of
words here.

 > As far as I know, we don't buy Chinese candy. Mexican candy took a big

CS> I get oriental candy at times but didnt get any with milk products.

We got a couple of pieces tossed in with our purchase at the local
Oriental Market (that's the actual name of the place) once. Steve tried
his; it had a coffee flavor so I let him have mine as well.

 > > We did a "hold us thru" trip on Saturday. This week will be the big

CS> Hehe i *still* havent. Kinda shows ya the sort of stocks i got used
CS> to keeping handy. Just no fresh fruit or veggies (canned and frozen
 CS> both).

Those long months at sea where you would stock up the family before
leaving still holding an influence? We did the main trip Friday
afternoon and went back Saturday afternoon for some more fresh produce.

CS> Thats good. He's a bit young to be gone still that long if it can be
 CS> avoided.

That's how we felt. We're also appreciating the fact that Rachel is
being a stay at home mom this school year. She's making noises about
going back to teaching next year but Sarah will have almost a full year
of mom time if she does.

CS> Hehehe everyone has a pig-out day now and again!

I know but from what she described, I thought they had friends over to
watch the game. No, all the stuff she made was just for them. But,
they're working it off at the gym. (G)

CS> Well, a few safe cereals wont hurt her at this age. As long as it's a
CS> sideline to the momma-milk for another month or so. I was letting
CS> Charlotte investigate a bit of solids by that age with no problems.

Rachel was too but Deborah wasn't interested at all until about 9
months.

CS> Snicker, I just make it.

I do too but can't do that for a food pantry. It has to be commercially
canned (or boxed). We used up the last can of Campbell's tomato soup
that we'll ever buy the other day. They have a new line out now,
Campbell's V-8, in aseptic boxes & no HFCS. We've tried the tomato and
golden butternut squash, both pretty good. We haven't tried the cream
of broccoli yet but there's a box on our shelf, waiting to be tried.

Catch you later,
