We have not bought food in McDonalds for quite some time, and possibly
much longer with respect to breakfast items.  I do stop into our closest
McD's occasionally to use the Redbox machine to rent movies on DVD.

Today we were on out way to the grocery, and just to participate in this
discussion I stopped by to price the SEM.  After standing there for a
few minutes and not seeing any clue that they even had such a thing, I
asked the young woman behind the counter.  Her response was polite "I'd
like to help you, but since I never work the morning shift, I have NO
idea." -- but she went and found the manager.  What I heard him say was
$2.59.  He spun the overhead sign around and I did see SEM on that board
-- but I'm not sure if the $2.59 was for just the sandwich or if it was
for a meal-deal.

But no signs of any special of twofer prices.

      Title: Deep-Fried Cheese
 Categories: Cheese, Appetizer, Fried
      Yield: 30 servings
 
      2    Eggs
    1/2 c  Milk
      1 c  Cornflakes - crushed
      1 c  Flour - all purpose
      2 tb Dry mustard
      2 tb Baking powder
    1/4 ts Salt
    1/4 ts Freshly ground white pepper
    1/2 c  Light beer - or more
           -oil for deep frying
     10 oz Monterey Jack cheese - mild
           -cheddar or
           -combination, cut into
           -strips, 2-1/2 x 1/2 x 1/2
           -inches, well chilled
 
  Beat eggs with milk in medium bowl.  Combine cornflakes, flour,
  mustard, baking powder, salt and pepper in another bowl.  Stir into
  egg mixture, blending well.  Add enough beer to make batter the
  consistency of whipping cream.  (Batter can be prepared ahead to this
  point, covered and refrigerated.  Stir in more beer to restore batter
  to proper consistency if necessary.)
  Heat oil to 375F.  Dip cold cheese into batter, coating
  completely.  Deep fry in batches until golden brown on all sides,
  about 2 to 3 minutes.  Drain well on paper towels.  Serve immediately.
  
  Makes about 30 appetizers.
