You didn't bear in mind the early part of the report - or
if you did, must have imagined that Annie was taking a
bus with me. As far as interstate buses go, there's not a
distinction here between interstate and intrastate ones.

Read the sentence again, preferably out loud.

I didn't say "took an hour and one change," for example.

That's all one ever has to do. The TSA, though stupid, wasteful,
and constitutionally dubious, is seldom malignant. By the way,
the sausages were frozen, which would render them more dangerous
in reality as well as in appearance (their density decreasing
somewhat owing to this condition).

The question is why aren't they used on all aircraft? The
current system, relying on atmospheric pressure readings
called in by the control tower, seems a bit dodgy.

Simplest custard
cat: dessert, mine, simple, dairy
serves: 5

450 mL milk
60 g sugar
1 g salt
3 egg yolks or 2 whole eggs
3 mL vanilla
caramel syrup, see below, optional
- or caramel sauce, see below, optional
- or cinnamon and/or nutmeg, optional

Oven at 160 (325).

Scald milk with sugar and salt. Let cool slightly.

Beat eggs well.

Pour hot milk over eggs, stirring constantly.

Add vanilla.

Pour this into a baking dish or into individual heatproof dishes.

Place dish or dishes in a pan half-filled with hot water.

Bake 40-45 min for little dishes or 45-55 min for one big one.

Serve sprinkled with cinnamon and/or nutmeg or in a pool of
caramel syrup or sauce.

Caramel syrup
cat: syrup, sauce
yield: 1 unit

1 unit sugar
1 unit boiling water

In a large heavy skillet, heat sugar over a slow flame,
stirring constantly as it liquefies. Let the sugar brown
a little. Stir boiling water slowly into sugar and cook
until the consistency is that of a syrup. Cool and use.
