Thanks-so far so good.  I'm really enjoying it.  The job is never-ending and
there is a steady stream of orders that come in via phone, fax or walk-in.
Makes the day go by quickly and I'm glad to finally have a good job where I

lot, but Maura and I figured out that if she got a part-time job, we'd be doing
quite nicely for ourselves since we're out of debt and own everything we have

Tennessee taxes me as a service, which means I pay a total of 10% tax on every
transaction I make (county, state, Federal), if I were a business.

I can get more than that. <G>  I generally will charge $55 an hour for my
services-more if it's time-consuming WRT labor or if the computer's being
onerous.  However, in that same breath, I also love to barter and offer my
services for free to small businesses that need a helping hand to get a Web
presence.  I tell them that they can pay me when they start making a profit
instead of just breaking even.  Since I don't have the business overhead, I can
do something gratis and feel good about it instead of worrying about how I'm
gonna make ends meet.

For me, the word-of-mouth advertising is priceless and would serve me better at
times than charging for certain jobs.  Many times, it's a very simple task,
such as setting up an antivirus program, installing a new piece of hardware or
even just making sure the LAN is secure.  I own a lot of my own test equipment
and can make network cables in my sleep, so I really just charge based on the
person's income and how difficult the job really is.  The only thing that can
be spendy is if I spend a lot of time on a job, such as imaging a large hard
drive and replacing it with a new one...then I will negotiate a set price for
the entire job.

The economy is depressed here where I live-I'm making less than half of what I
was making in Atlanta.  While it's a simple existence, we can survive on it.
The computer jobs are just extra gravy for me, but if they really started
coming in hot and heavy and I could justify it, I'd re-open my computer
business and just work out of my car-a storefront in this day and age isn't
justified for all of the repair work I do.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Baked Lasagna
 Categories: Italian, Beef, Main dish
      Yield: 6 Servings

      1    Onion, minced
      1    Clove garlic menced
      1 lb Ground beef
      2 ts Shortening
      1 md Can whole tomatoes
      1 cn Tomato sauce
      1 ts Oregano
    1/4 ts Pepper
    1/2 lb Lasagna noodles
  2 1/2 qt Boiling water
    1/2 lb Sliced Mozzarella cheese
      1 c  Cream cottage cheese
    1/2 c  Cheddar cheese

  Saute onion, garlic, and meat in shortening about 20 minutes.  Add
  next four ingredients. with 1 tsp salt.  Simmer for 40 minutes.  Cook
  noodles with 1 tbsp salt for 20 minutes; drain.

  Put 1/3 meat mixture in baking dish.  Add layer of noodles, add 1/2
  cottage cheese, 1/3 Mozzarella, and 1/2 Cheddar.  Repeat layers,
  ending with remaining meat mixture and top with remaining 1/3
  Mozzarella cheese.
