Ärende: recipes [1/2]
=====================
Hi Peter,

PC> Well..I did it....deleted my reply, so here I go again.,

No, it wasn't deleted, just sent before you were finished writing. Been
there, done that.

RH> Sounds like it was not a fun time. I got off light compared to you.

PC> No, not fun, but Ruth, there is always someone who has it harder
PC> then you, or I. And if we can help, then I am all for it.

One nice thing about the echo is that if a special dietary need is
requested, lots of folks jump in with help. Or, if you want a recipe
for a specific dish you may get varients from a number of us--ranging
from easy to do to 1001 steps. That's part of the fun of this place.

PC> As for recipes, and while I see a lot that temp me here, if I try
PC> they must be engineered to suit my condition. Visitors see how I
PC> cook, and my wife trys to make things as I need them, and everyone
PC> else...well they can had the salt and stuff...as my only thing
PC> seems to be pepper at this stage...next year...they might have
PC> me on the pole..if you know what I mean.

We can send what we think will help. Feel free to adapt as neccessary
and repost your version.

PC> Jamiaca, being on an Island, as you well know, is an interesting
PC> sight. Rich Porpoerty with lawns, and all...look great..then one
PC> comes to the propertry line and it is like night and day.

PC> Poor people living in cardboard boxes, and wooden crates with
PC> metal siding for a roof.

The latter sounds like parts of Mexico. I've been to some of the
"better" parts of a couple of border towns; Steve did a mission trip
further down into the country and saw some of the extreme poverty. But,
he got to taste shark on that trip, if I recall. (The trip was in 2001,
before we went to Hawaii.)

PC> Of course some of these houses for the rich folk, are built
PC> like forts to withstand the storms, with metal protection
PC> with a flip of a switch that comes down to seal the windows
 PC> and doors.

Good idea; something like that should be required in parts of the USA as
well.

RH> I've never been to Jamacia and would probably look at it with a
RH> different eye than the average tourist.

PC> Go with open eyes, and ears..and be safe. Really

If I get a chance to go, it will be with eyes and ears open, and with
caution.

RH> Sounds good; we all enjoy reading new recipes.

PC> Got her, and she is okay with doing it, but only when she has
PC> the chance...which means very rare.

RH> Such fun and joy! (G)

PC> Despite all in my life, I am happy, if you can imagine this.

Yes, I can very well imagine. I wouldn't trade my life for anyone
else's.

RH> I see. It can be very frustrating, can't it?

PC> Well I have my comments, and I am not afraid to debate with them
PC> medications. Why have some pill do this, when he does , this and
PC> that and makes my life that more miserable. I have my thoughts
PC> on why they do this, but .....

I've had some of the same discussions. I mentioned a newish drug to my
pulmonologist in HI; we thought it might help my asthma. It turned out
that I'm allergic to it so I discontinued it fast. He understood; his
first thought afterward was to try a lower dosage but then rethought and
agreed that I just not use it.

RH> Same as Steve never saw me on anything but cross country skis, not

PC> worse of it. On the farm, I did cross-country to check fields
PC> when we got surprise snow...and I liked it, even climbing fences with
PC> skiis. Got'em all talking about that hahahahaha.

Now that must have been an interesting sight!

RH> I try to look for at least a bit of a bright spot. Even a real
RH> "downer" has one or two. Besides, I have other ways to keep going.

PC> Yes... agreed. It will never be beaten, just perhaps conditions that
PC> help it happen. Remove the cause, and you reduce it, but beaten NO.

I read something soon after my diagnosis that you should consider
yourself a survivor as soon as you get a diagnosis. It helps give you
the mental attitude that "I'm gonna beat this thing". One way or
another, it won't get the best of me

RH> It sounds like she would fit in quite well here. At last year's
RH> picnic, Michael brought some different chocolates, including some with
RH> hot pepper and one with bacon in them.

PC> OH no...you remind me of ice-cream pizza in Brasil. That got me off
PC> them for many years, until I made hospital approved pizza.

Sounds interesting. I heard on Fox News today that there's a bacon
flavored dental floss on the market. Some of the folks here ought to
track it down and give a report.

 RH> Why am I not surprised? (G)

PC> Because what you have written about steve, does remind me of my life
 PC> with Maria.

He has been very supportive of me and my medical issues. He also spoils
me rotten sometimes. (g0

I may not understand Portuguese, or get it...I was
PC> useless in school with languages, but somehow we have survived all...

I survived Latin in high school and German in college. (G)

PC> oops ran over ...see you on the next page :)

OK
