====================================================================
Hi Janis,

>> Oh no!!! another spoiled brat like ME???? (lol) I think we should
>> start a club (grin)

 JK> > It's worth thinking about.

JK> Now if xx considers that she's spoiled too, that'll make 3 so far (g)

I'm sure there are a number of others here who could easily qualify as
well.

JK> > Yes, we're dealing with a lot we never thought, even a year ago,
JK> we'd > not be doing so. Had my latest blood check today. Numbers are
JK> still in > the normal range but a bit lower than a couple of weeks
JK> ago. I'm about > half done now

JK> That's great to hear... It seems you're tolerating it well, I hope
JK> you're taking it mostly easy around your house.. When I was having a
JK> bad time, I remember my mom calling me and saying, 'Just take care of
JK> yourself so you can get better for you and your family... don't worry
JK> about the house because "dirt wins anyway"' (bg) She was right.. It
 JK> waited for me (g)

As mine is waiting for me. (G) I'm glad I do't have to go thru a white
glove inspection--mine's clean enough to be healthy, dirty enough to be
happy as the saying goes.

JK> > Well, I'll do anything to keep you from smoking too much. I was on
JK> my > feet too much Friday evening and Saturday & really felt it into

JK> Ron and I were talking about it again today.. Last time I tried to
JK> quit I had him hold the cigarettes and lighter. That way I was aware
JK> of when I was lighting up.

Have him put them in the bottom, remotest corner of the deep freeze;
that'll make you think more about getting one. (G)

JK> > I know; I was there when Robert was born. Rachel and David had funny
JK> > reactions--hers was that "he doesn't look like an Aidan (the name
JK> they'd > originally picked for him) and David thought that he looked
JK> exactly like > my father. I got back to HI after spending 4 weeks with
JK> the kids and our > neighbor told us she was pregnant.

JK> Oh boy.. must have been a busy time then. It's funny too, Lauren's
JK> last boy looks like a spitting image of her father-in-law, and her
JK> first looks just like Ron (g).

Cute! Now there's a strong resemblence to David's side of the family; a
couple of years ago they got a 3 generation picture and you could see
the Walton side all over Robert.

>> hahahahahahaha don't tell me you don't like Cilantro.. I hate it :)

JK> > Steve hates it; I'll take it in small doses.

JK> Ah, I don't like the smell of it at all ... but I like mexican food..

There is a lot that doesn't use cilamtro; the trouble is, so many places
are catering to the American corrupted taste of Mexican so they put it
in everything. Taco Bell is not even close to real Mexican food,
despite what the public thinks.

JK> > evening committments that I usually plan either supper or get
JK> something > while we're out. Took out another freezer meal for dinner
JK> yesterday but > will do something else tonight.

JK> Tonight, I finally made a pot of meatballs, sausage and sauce with the
JK> hot sausage I bought from the health-food store.. I ground the stew
JK> beef I'd also bought there for the meatballs.. they came out great..
JK> the sausage was nothing to write home about (g). It was meaty, and
JK> the meat had a good flavor, but it wasn't Italian Hot Sausage if you
JK> know what I mean :) I've got some ground port still, I may try making
JK> some sausage myself.. I haven't done that in quite a while.

Sounds good here. We're going to use hot turkey Italian sausage tonight
with the pepper and onions; the mild turkey we'll throw into sauce.

>> wasn't hard to figure what stayed til the last moment, and what got
>> packed beforehand :)

JK> > We've had packers do it for the last 8 moves but most of them have
JK> been > ones where we could not do it ourselves (to/from overseas).

 JK> That makes sense.

It's also better, especially if you've got a good team. In AZ, it took
almost 4 days to pack everything and load the truck; it was done in
a bit over 8 hours in HI.

JK> do > pack things like the computers, my sewing stuff, etc in their
JK> original > boxes which the movers then put into other boxes--gives it
JK> another layer > of protection.

JK> It definitely would help, I can see that.

Good to make sure nothing is substituted for the real thing as well.

JK> > I'll have my sewing stuf organised to the point where I
JK> > know what's where and can get my sewing room set up faster. In the
JK> > kitchen I'll have herbs and spices I want moved packed up so the
JK> movers > don't have to deal with them. Then I'll hold out what I'll
JK> use until we > clear quarters, toss or give away the rest.

JK> How many times have you gone overseas? That must have been neat :)
JK> Well, not the moving, but being there must have been really
 JK> interesting.

We went to Frankfurt in October of 86. From there we went to Berlin in
October, 89. Came back in summer of 92, from AZ Steve went to Korea from
March of 96 to March of 97. In March 2001, we went to HI which is
considered an overseas tour in most, but not all aspects of it. So he's
been overseas technically 4 times, me 3, as the 2 tours in Germany were
considered separate times over, even tho we did it back to back. Lots of
memories, both good and bad, friends we still stay in touch with, a
desire to go back and visit (but not Korea) and food experiences we
can't replicate elsewhere.
