 >> Yes, likewise, our dead trees have finally sprung to life after our
 >> winter <g>

 > Having been in NYS in Spring, I know how uplifting that is.

JK> You're not kidding.. I keep a lot of plants in the house just for that
JK> reason, and always have (g)... especially avocado plants.. there is
JK> something about growing those plants from the seeds (knowing you'll
JK> likely never see an avocado) that makes you feel like you are somehow
 JK> 'beating' winter (g).

Years ago, in PNG, I took up a posting in Mt Hagen, and moved into a
house which had been occupied for 4 years by an enthusiastic gardener
who had planted two avocado trees. In all the time he was there he
tended the trees, but didn't get a single fruit. The first year I was
there, they produced buckets of fruit. As the man was still working
in PNG, in the department's head office in Pt Moresby I took a huge
box of avocados down to him when next I visited the capital. He was
very appreciative of that! My kids ate them often, usually prepared
by my wife with the flesh scraped out of the skins and mixed with some
condensed milk. I preferred them just with lemon or lime juice.

 >> down there. Now I have a newer one upstairs that uses a lot less water
 >> and washes/dries in one machine - it's kind of outrageous (g) and
 >> takes forever to do a load of clothes haha.. but it's nice to throw a
 >> load of clothes in and forget it.. I guess it's not really so long. 3
 >> hours for a load of jeans (I mean like 6 pairs of our jeans) (g).. so
 >> that's not so bad :)

 > That should be OK if you can stay ahead of the demand. I have a 40

JK> Yes, this washer/dryer combo is not one made for a household with
JK> great demand for clothes at 'rapid turnover rate' (g).. say a house
JK> with small children. One would go crazy waiting for the cycles to end
JK> :) But for the two of us, it's just fine.. and we hate washing clothes
 JK> anyhow Lol

I have a small grand-daughter who visits on weekends, and she manages
to get through lots of clothes.

 > year old drier, but I rarely use it, as it takes a lot of power and
 > steams up the laundry. I use the rotary clothes hoist in the back
 > garden, or the line under the car port if rain is likely.

JK> This one is quite effecient.. Doesn't seem to steam up anything that
JK> I've noticed, or really even heat up the room it's in. The company who
JK> makes it is LG. I do very much remember the days of hanging the
JK> laundry out on the line - even in the freezing cold :) Amazing to see
JK> clothes dry that way (g).

At my daughter's house in NZ I have seen and felt washing that has
frozen solid on the clothes line, so I know what that is like. It
never gets that cold here in Adelaide, though. I was told by a
visiting Danish relative that our winter was much the same as their
summer. He was lucky not to come here in summer.

 >> probably a happy to just relax and enjoy letting me take care of it,
 >> and I don't mind at all (grin).. if she's up to it, that will be fine
 >> as well :)

 > That is what they tell me, also, but then I get asked to advise on a
 > recipe, assist in preparation, and then show how something is done. I
 > don't mind, as I like to keep active.

JK> Certainly :) She enjoys that as well and we've always enjoyed cooking
JK> together moreso than probably any of my other sisters (grin).

That is important - to be able to work together in the kitchen. I
visited my newly married niece in Houston at the same time as her
mother-in-law's first visit, and it was pleasing to see the two of
them working together comfortably, even though my niece was born in
the Philippines and her mother-in-law came from Hongkong. They had
similar ways of cooking, and some common favourite dishes, but each
was happy to learn new dishes from the other, so the husband was
doubly blessed by what they cooked for him.

 >> I guess I would be safe then afterall, wouldn't I :) :)

 > I will make sure the crocodiles are well fed before you arrive. :)

JK> Good thing too :) Though I am SURE I would not be planning on
JK> wrestling any of them hahaha :)

I have heard of alligator wrestling, and seen pictures of it being
done in the 1930s, but a big salt water croc could make dinner of the
wrestler - and the alligator!

 > The greatest danger is that you might like it here and want to keep
 > coming back.

 JK> I'm sure I would :)

Aways welcome. :)

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05

      Title: CROCODILE MAGIC
 Categories: Australian, Reptile
      Yield: 4 Servings

    500 g Crocodile meat
      4 t Amchur (mango powder)
      1 c Dry white wine
      2 T Cider vinegar
      2 T Peanut oil

Cut crocodile meat into strips 1 cm thick, and marinate in first three
other ingredients for one hour or more.

Drain meat and wipe dry, saving marinade. Heat oil in frying pan until
smoking. Add meat and cook quickly until blackened, all over.

Lower heat, and add marinade and any vegetables, if desired.

Cover and simmer for 40 minutes, or until meat is tender, adding
water if necessary to keep meat moist.

Serve, with accompanying vegetables, and mango salad.
